At 8:6 am today (6th), a MTR spokesperson stated that someone at Mong Kok East Station heading for the Lo Wu/Lok Ma Chau platform, entered the track area when the train entered the station.
Rescuers arrived at the scene to rescue. The fallen old man was confirmed dead on the spot. The walking stick and personal belongings believed to belong to the deceased were left on the platform.
The police said they received a report from the MTR train captain that someone broke into the track at Mong Kok East Station and the case is still under investigation.
A MTR spokesperson pointed out that the current train service between Hung Hom and Kowloon Tong Station is suspended. As for the East Rail Line, the train service runs between Kowloon Tong and Sheung Shui Station every 6 to 8 minutes.
As of 9:13 in the morning, the MTR spokesperson pointed out that the incident on the East Rail Line had just been dealt with, and train services had resumed normal.
