Damascus-SANA
The newly published novel “Forty Lamps” by the writer Maha Mardini presents an approach to the years of the war on Syria in an innovative and simplified way by entering the life of the young Muhammad and his relations with other young men and families from different segments.
The novel that Mardini signed within the Syrian Book Fair currently being held in the Al-Assad National Library included many cases that the Syrians lived through as a result of conspiracy and terrorism through a new method of presenting the repercussions of the war and the issues faced by society and ways to address them.
Mardini explained that she took the time to publish the novel until she was able to tighten her artistic formations and reach a new innovative work, after she had previously published several stories, especially for children.
Waseem Al-Ghabra, director of Dar Al-Mufker, publisher of the novel, considered that “The Forty Lamps” came with unprecedented creativity and carried many concerns and humanitarian issues, especially those suffered by the Syrians, pointing to the importance of depicting the war and its repercussions in different ways to document our suffering in a literary way that remains a beacon for generations.
