The fifth season was completely canceled.
Well, almost a year later, the numbers are rising again - but thanks to the vaccination, Germany is in a different starting position.
Nevertheless, SPD health expert Karl Lauterbach urges caution: especially when it comes to the upcoming holidays.
Lauterbach: "This will probably be the last big wave of the pandemic."

, Lauterbach says: "This will probably be the last big wave of the pandemic".
Nevertheless, it is possible that the virus could again cost many people their lives.
The SPD politician therefore appeals to people to be cautious: "This includes avoiding company Christmas parties indoors as much as possible, celebrating Christmas in smaller groups and not going to the carnival." Gloomy prospects for all Christmas and carnival lovers.
Karl Lauterbach also makes it clear that there will be no further lockdown.
He advocates a more comprehensive 2G solution and significantly stricter controls of the regulations.
Virologist Hendrik Streeck: 2G regulations problematic
Virologist Hendrik Streeck is not entirely convinced of the 2G regulations.
He sees some problems with this, as he
reports
to the

: "The vaccinated have the feeling that they are no longer part of the pandemic and are correspondingly risky." The situation is also critical with the unvaccinated.
This group is excluded and organizes itself in private.
"The infection process can no longer be controlled there at all," says Streeck.
He is therefore calling for the free corona tests to be reintroduced.

In many federal states, schoolchildren no longer have to wear a medical mask in class.
Lauterbach is critical of this and recommends: "I think it is medically necessary that children wear their masks in class, even if countries have abolished the obligation, which I think is a mistake."
He considers the so-called booster vaccinations to be an important tool in the further fight against the virus.
It was only on Friday that the health ministers of the federal states decided to recommend the booster vaccination to all those whose second vaccination was more than six months ago.
