According to political news, the five-term real estate councillor Shi Liqian will retreat. It is expected that there will be competition for seats in the real estate industry for the first time in 20 years. Among them, Zhao Shihao, a member of the Liberal Party and the son of wealthy businessman Zhao Shizeng, is interested in running for the election.

Shi Liqian admitted that he would not be re-elected when he was inquired by "Hong Kong 01". He said that he was old and had been a member of the council for five terms.

Legislative Council’s most senior legislators are surrounded

Shi Liqian, 76, has been elected to the Legislative Council since 2000, and was automatically elected for the next four terms without rivals. He is currently the most senior member of the Legislative Council.

Shi Liqian holds a number of public positions, including a member of the University Council of Hong Kong, and also serves as a non-executive director of a number of listed companies.

The year before the anti-amendment turmoil, the Bills Committee had a "twin" meeting. The committee chaired by Shi Liqian was obstructed and surrounded by pro-democracy legislators. In October of the same year, Shi Liqian accepted an interview, saying that he never supported the revision of the "Fleeing Offenders Ordinance" and severely criticized the government for "useless people."

In recent years, the business community has been caught in the eye of politics. Shi Liqian has repeatedly escorted the industry, criticizing some people for simplifying the housing problem, and urging not to "fight" the business community anymore.

Shi Liqian no longer fights for re-election, and the political and business circles pay attention to who will take over. It is reported that Zhao Shihao, the executive director of Zhuoneng Group and the managing director of Emperor Real Estate Group, participated in the election.

The Legislative Council election was not announced last year before the postponement. Zhao Shihao, who is a member of the Liberal Party, also planned to run for the election. However, as Shi Liqian had already signed up, Zhao abandoned the war on the grounds that "the overall situation is the most important thing."
