The Kowloon City Police District Special Duty Squad has successfully locked an abandoned private car parked in an open-air car park on Tsing Hung Road, Tsing Yi, suspected of being used as a temporary drug store after a long period of observation and deployment based on information.

Seeing that the time was ripe, the officers intercepted a 14-year-old middle-three teenager at 3 o'clock in the afternoon yesterday (6th). He had a triad background.

At that time, he had a rucksack and walked into the parking lot and boarded the target vehicle.

The officers stopped him immediately, and he was cooperative and did not resist.

After searching his body, the officers found a small amount of cash, a mobile phone and the key of the vehicle involved, but there was nothing in the backpack.

Officers then searched the vehicle and found red, white and blue plastic bags, handbags and rucksacks near the rear of the vehicle. There were suspected cocaine bricks inside. The total weight was about 23 kilograms and the market value was about 27 million yuan.

The case was handed over to the Crime Squad of the Kowloon City Police District for follow-up. The juvenile involved was arrested for trafficking in dangerous drugs. He will later be charged with drug trafficking. The case will appear in West Kowloon Magistrates' Courts tomorrow (8th).

Chief Inspector Wong Siu Cheung, Director of Operations of the Kowloon City Police District, said that the police have noticed that criminals are suspected of using dilapidated or abandoned vehicles parked in remote parking lots as temporary storage warehouses to cover up drug trafficking crimes.

In addition, criminals use money to induce young people to commit crimes.

According to data, drug crimes involving teenagers aged 10 to 20 rose sharply from 135 cases in the first half of last year to 224 cases in the first half of this year, an increase of 66%. Huang Zhaochang estimates that it is related to the mentality of "quick money" among teenagers. Exclude connections with social events in recent years.

The police reiterated that drug trafficking is a serious crime. According to the Dangerous Drugs Ordinance, Chapter 134 of the Laws of Hong Kong, any drug trafficker can be sentenced to a maximum fine of 5 million yuan and life imprisonment upon conviction.

In addition, if any person obtains or supplies or traffics dangerous drugs to a minor, the police have the right to apply to the court for a heavier penalty by applying Section 56A of the Dangerous Drugs Ordinance.

This time, one of the operations in the "Plowing Hole Sweeping" for the police, the whole "Plowing Hole Sweeping" operation is still in progress.

The police believe that through this arrest operation, they have successfully prevented the relevant drugs from entering the market and blocked part of the source of income for the triad.

The police urge the car park industry or its users to report any suspicious vehicles or activities to the police as soon as possible.
