Four years ago, the municipality of Peiting was pleased about the completion of the second construction phase on Bahnhofstrasse including the roundabout at the Sesar bakery.
Now it has to be rebuilt again.
For pedestrians and road users this means from tomorrow on Monday: Not much is possible here at first.
Peiting - "There have always been complaints and complaints that many motorists do not exit the roundabout on Bahnhofstrasse, but rather drive over the marked lines relatively straight and far too fast," explains Mayor Peter Ostenrieder, why the community is again at the approaches a relatively young roundabout and takes a lot of money in hand for it.
He also speaks for the dangers of those who want to use the crossings.
"In particular, these are children and seniors."
The interior is paved and raised
What is now being modified in order to steer motorists on the right track and, to a certain extent, to slow them down? The area that was previously only marked will be paved and raised. This in turn should mean that the resulting increase must be avoided. Otherwise, the underbody of your own car might not fare well when the owner roars over the raised island. "This slows down the traffic and draws the drivers' attention more to what is happening around the roundabout," Ostrieder hopes.
There are restrictions for motorists and pedestrians due to the construction work: Although Bahnhofstrasse remains accessible from one side, the entrances and exits to Bergwerkstrasse and Kapellestrasse are expected to be complete by the end of the work, which is scheduled for Friday, November 12th be locked.
The traffic diversions are signposted accordingly.
