The demand for booster vaccinations in Munich has been increasing steadily since mid-October.

This is confirmed by the health department.

But while more and more citizens are

opting

for

the third spade

, little progress is being made with the first and second vaccinations.

Most recently, it was just under 10,000 within a week (October 29 to November 5). For comparison: During the summer months, more than 10,000 people in Munich were immunized per day.

High demand in medical practices

Last Friday, meanwhile, long queues formed in front of the vaccination center on Theresienwiese.

Many people who wanted to be vaccinated were given a booster vaccination, including people who had previously only received one spade with the Johnson & Johnson vaccine.

As of Wednesday, November 3, there were

almost 30,000 people in Munich

get a booster vaccination, of which 21,852 in doctor's offices, where the need is also growing.

An impression that the medical professional representatives confirm: "The demand for booster vaccinations is significantly higher than that for first or second vaccinations," explains Martin Eulitz, spokesman for the Bavarian Association of Statutory Health Insurance Physicians.

Markus Beier, state chairman of the Bavarian General Practitioner Association, also says: "Our focus is currently on booster vaccinations to protect those people who belong to the vulnerable groups who were vaccinated early." Reaching indecisive people who have not yet been vaccinated.

Booster vaccination possible at many wards

Third-party vaccinations can currently be given to people over the age of 70, nursing staff and high-risk patients who received a second vaccination at least six months ago. This offer is soon to be extended to all people over the age of twelve. In Munich, the third-party vaccinations can be carried out in the city's inpatient facilities, except in medical practices. These are located in Riem, on Theresienwiese, in the town hall (former Sport Münzinger), in the Pasing Arcaden and in the district administration department. The booster vaccination is also possible without an appointment for all mobile special campaigns.

Health officer Beatrix Zurek (SPD)

promotes this: "Older people in Munich, immunocompromised and also nursing staff should decide on a booster vaccination as soon as possible."

Meanwhile, the pace of vaccination is progressing rather slowly in the special campaigns at Munich schools.

Since September 16, 1850 children and adolescents have been immunized at 60 educational institutions, according to the health department.

Further activities are planned after the autumn break.
