The area planted with wheat and barley crops in al-Hasakah reached 5700 hectares, in implementation of the sub-agricultural plan, concentrated in the southern and northeastern regions of the governorate.

The head of the Plant Production Department in the Directorate of Agriculture, Engineer Jalal Bilal, said in a statement to SANA reporter that the cultivation of the two crops, Riya and Baalah, started from farmers recently, as it was concentrated in the areas of Al-Shaddadi, Markada, and the rural areas of the cities of Hasaka, Qamishli, Tel Hamis and Al-Yarubiyah, while cultivation has not begun to date in the northern and western countrysides, pointing to The planting operations will witness an increase in implementation during the second half of November and will usually continue until the end of the year.

The head of the Plant Production Department pointed out that the cultivated area was distributed to 3000 hectares of rainfed wheat and 280 hectares of irrigated wheat, while the area of ​​rainfed barley reached 2100 hectares and irrigated barley reached 320 hectares, noting that the increased demand for the implementation of rain-fed agricultural areas is linked to weather conditions and rainfall that will encourage farmers to plant .

According to the sub-agricultural plan for the cultivation of wheat and barley crops for the winter season in Al-Hasakah Governorate, the planned area for cultivation of rainfed wheat is 440,000 hectares, irrigated wheat 109,951 hectares, rainfed barley 400,000 hectares and irrigated barley 20,734 hectares.
