Today's meeting, chaired by Prime Minister Hussein Arnous, discussed the reality of the pharmaceutical sector and the difficulties encountered in ways to meet the local market's need for some types of medicines, supply the needs of hospitals and health authorities for medicine and pharmaceutical supplies, and solve related financial entanglements.
During the meeting, the measures taken to settle the indebtedness of some health authorities in favor of the General Corporation for Foreign Trade and the obligations incurred in foreign exchange on the Corporation’s current and future contracts were evaluated. Procuring medicines and health supplies and providing the necessary foreign exchange.
Engineer Arnous stressed that ensuring the flow of medicines from different groups is one of the government's priorities, which has not and will not spare any effort or measure to secure the required of all types of medicine, stressing the facilitation and facilitation of centrally licensing procedures and taking all necessary for this purpose.
The Ministries of Health and Finance and the Central Bank of Syria were assigned to hold an extensive meeting with those in charge of pharmaceutical companies and laboratories to discuss the reality of production, the difficulties they encounter and proposals to address them according to the priorities and available capabilities, in a way that contributes to achieving stability in providing the local market need of medicines.
The meeting was attended by the Ministers of Economy, Foreign Trade, Finance, Health, the Secretary General of the Presidency of the Council of Ministers, the Governor of the Central Bank of Syria and the Assistant Ministers of Health, Higher Education and Scientific Research.
