Hagemeyer takes a new approach.
He doesn't want to demonize narcissism per se.
On the one hand, this may be due to the fact that the author describes himself as a “nice narcissist”, and secondly because “we all sometimes treat each other narcissistically”.
Everyone wears such traits - just differently.
In “the perfidious games of the narcissists” Hagemeyer does not just describe cases of narcissism or the victims of their manipulations, which he has come to know in his everyday practice.
“The book is like a manual on dealing with narcissistic personalities,” he says.
However, the new release is not a classic instruction manual - the tips flow into the anecdotes and stories casually without a raised index finger.
Wife doubted herself - but her husband was the problem
For example in the case of the young mother Christina, who once attended Hagemeyer's practice. She feared for custody of her son, whom she had not seen for months. Her husband put the woman in front of the door, her family and friends turned away from her - she was hysterical and aggressive, was the reason. Christina doubted herself - and visited Hagemeyer to get her problem treated. What nobody saw was the role that her husband was playing: he regularly snubbed her, made her seem incompetent and provoked with aggressive tone and accusations. The fight for custody of her son turned into a torture for Christina that lasted for months. Also because her husband manipulated the youth welfare office and lawyers. “To an outside observer, it looked like Christina was the sick. But is it exactly the other way around ",Hagemeyer summed up. It was a story from real life that noticeably touched the audience in the ambush.
Even his first appearance in an ambush had moved many people.
Hagemeyer was the first to undertake a “technically adventurous undertaking,” said cultural stage operator Assunta Tammelleo in the run-up to the reading.
In April 2020, the ambush started a live stream series on YouTube.
"Without these streams we would not exist anymore," emphasized Tammelleo.
Hagemeyer was not only the first to sit in front of the camera, but also the most successful: over 30,000 people have already viewed the video.
