Miesbach / Munich -

The corona pandemic still has the Free State firmly under control. According to the Robert Koch Institute, the 7-day incidence throughout Bavaria is exactly 293 as of 3.15 a.m. on Sunday, making it third among the highest incidences in Germany at the state level. Even if the gap to Saxony (444) and Thuringia (419.9) is large - the development remains worrying. A total of 14 cities and districts in Bavaria have exceeded a seven-day incidence of 500 and are therefore considered "pink" areas. There are many more counties with an incidence of over 300, which was determined to define a so-called “hotspot”.

The hospital traffic light in Bavaria is now yellow, as more than 450 intensive care beds in Bavaria are occupied by corona patients.

That is why stricter measures have been in place in the Free State since Saturday, such as wearing an FFP2 mask.

Corona in Bavaria: The situation is worsening - hotspot region with contact tracking at the limit

A district that has been on everyone's lips for some time is Miesbach in Upper Bavaria. The region around Tegernsee and Schliersee was the undisputed incidence leader in Germany for several days and on Sunday was still in sixth place of the worst affected districts with 674.8. In the meantime, army soldiers have been ordered to help the health department. Although the workforce has been increased to 80 employees - this is by no means enough to master the chaos surrounding the contact tracing of the countless infected people. With almost 200 new infections reported daily, the number of people who may be infected is also potentially increasing. A spokeswoman for the district administration confesses in an interview with

Die Welt

: "We just can't keep up." Since there are sometimes dozens of contact persons for every infected person, only direct relatives are now informed.

The other contact persons should, if possible, notify the infected themselves.

Corona in the Miesbach hotspot: District administrator with urgent appeal - innkeepers in fear

District Administrator Olaf von Löwis (CSU) had asked in a public appeal to refrain from all mass events. In the meantime, there is no longer a legal level for this. He himself is very concerned about the hospitality industry in the tourist region and emphasizes: "It has never been so bad." Meanwhile, the intensive care unit of the central hospital in Agatharied is fully booked, the hospital traffic light is red. Five Covid patients are fighting there currently for their lives. Things are not looking any better in the surrounding hospitals either. Anyone who gets sick now has to drive to Munich, around 50 kilometers away.

You stay calm in the restaurants.

Evidence of vaccinations is not checked, intervals are not adhered to.

Ratskeller operator Matthias Gercken says that people are relying on personal responsibility.

The 3G plus rule has been in effect in the catering trade in the hotspot areas since the weekend.

This means that people who have not been vaccinated must have a negative PCR test.

These cost up to 80 euros and are often only available after around 24 hours.

Now many restaurateurs fear a collapse in visitor numbers if many unvaccinated people do not want to bear these circumstances and costs.

Around a third of Bavarians are still not vaccinated against the corona virus.

In Miesbach there was already strong criticism of the PCR obligation.

Corona in Miesbach: Criticism of the PCR obligation - district spokeswoman warns of "civil war"

A year ago everything was sealed with a lower incidence, it now remains with the arrangement of 2G, 3G-Plus and FFP2 masks. Far-reaching contact restrictions as in the two lockdowns should not apply even if the incidence rises again. "If everything is open in Bad Tölz at the same time - then we have civil war here!", Said the district spokeswoman.

But the region on the Tegernsee, to which up to eleven million tourists travel annually, is worried about reputation and guests.

The first cancellations are already hailing.

Celebrations are canceled spontaneously if those who have been vaccinated find out that they would have to spend huge sums for a PCR test beforehand.

Some arrive without a test and then have to leave again.

The innkeepers are desperate because the employees are now also looking for the distance.

There is great uncertainty about slipping back into short-time working due to a renewed lockdown.

Many have already reoriented themselves during the lockdown in the spring.

High incidence in the hotspot Miesbach: are corona parties really to blame?

Where the high incidences come from remains a mystery. There is talk of a “diffuse infection process”. It is noticeable, however, that mainly young people seem to be infected. In the age groups between 14 and 34, the incidence was over 1000 in the past week. Florian Meier, the district's medical pandemic coordinator, reported in an interview about so-called "corona parties" at which young people were intentionally infected to be able to escape the expensive PCR test for six months with a recovered certificate - instead of getting vaccinated. There is no evidence for the thesis, but there is no denial either.

Meanwhile, the tremors in the hospitality industry continue.

The Ratskeller landlord is certain that the pandemic will break the neck of many more restaurants.

“Dying is only just beginning.”
