Berlin - The corona numbers are currently increasing rapidly in Germany.

The seven-day incidence was 191.5 on Sunday morning, further approaching the pandemic high of 197.6 on December 22 of last year.

The fourth wave seems to hit Germany with all its might.

This scenario is already known in Israel.

The incidence here had already reached a value just below 900 in mid-September.

The seven-day incidence is now well below 100 again.

Israel's corona guru opted for booster vaccinations early on

One man is primarily responsible for this: Ronnie Gamzu.

He was appointed as the Israeli government's corona officer shortly after the pandemic began.

This made him the decision maker who called for lockdowns, bought vaccine for his country early and sometimes very expensive, and organized the distribution.

The

editorial network Germany

therefore calls him Corona Guru or Corona Tsar

.

He made a significant contribution to the fact that Israel was steered by the various waves of pandemics and that Germany is now several months ahead in comparison.

The September wave in Israel was impressively pushed back with booster vaccinations.

This is also shown by current study data from the country.

Gamzu now says to the

editorial network Germany

: “We should no longer persuade ourselves that we have been vaccinated with two doses.

After six months that is simply no longer true. "The protection provided by the vaccination decreases significantly after a while and then has to be renewed, according to the expert.

Israel's corona guru criticizes politics in Germany: "Absolutely avoidable"

Gamzu also considers the current situation in Germany to be “not a bit surprising”.

Then he expresses clear criticism, because with a view to Israel, for example, one could have foreseen the development.

The Standing Vaccination Commission (StiKo) must be more courageous and recommend booster vaccinations for all adults: "The Stiko must take a leadership role and stop the current media confusion among people," said the expert.

In general, Gamzu thinks that a separate Corona officer, an independent expert, is needed in a country in order to be able to master the pandemic - unlike in Germany.

With regard to Germany, too, he believes that many politicians are not up to the situation.

The change in government now makes matters even more difficult.

This is currently leading to "big problems" in corona policy, says Gamzu, who says: "That would have been absolutely avoidable".

In his opinion, more experts are needed in crisis agencies.

In Israel, for example, his reputation as a professor helped him to gain the trust of the population.
