The police and the public prosecutor's office now want to inform the public about the status of the investigation in a press conference on Sunday (November 7th).

The press conference is to take place in the morning in Neumarkt in the Upper Palatinate.

Police President Norbert Zink, two other police officers and the Chief Public Prosecutor Gerhard Neuhof will answer questions on Sunday at 1 p.m.

The press conference is to be broadcast live on the Facebook page of the Upper Palatinate Police.

Nothing is known about a motive of the 27-year-old alleged perpetrator.

The man was arrested, but many details were still unknown.

A police spokesman said: "The background to the crime is still completely unclear." He also stated that it was apparently a single perpetrator.

Now the Regensburg police are investigating in coordination with the Nuremberg-Fürth public prosecutor's office, said police spokesman Florian Beck.

Witnesses would be heard.

The victims are said to be three men aged 26, 39 and 60, as the dpa said, citing "security circles".

A 77-year-old passenger reports that the door of the compartment was suddenly thrown open and that there was “an almost panic-like escape to the rear of the train”.

The man who was sitting in another car also reported that “A stabber!
