Security forces in Kuwait have arrested a squad of four Hezbollah operatives after trying to recruit activists for fighting in Yemen and Syria, the local newspaper Siasa reported today (Sunday).
According to the report, the arrests were made on Thursday after lengthy intelligence work and the detainees are familiar figures associated with the oil-rich princess.
They are suspected of a variety of offenses including money laundering for the Lebanese terrorist organization and smuggling of its operatives through state borders.
The detainees admitted to raising money illegally through local mosques but did not admit to the allegations linking them to the Hezbollah organization.
According to the Kuwaiti newspaper, the activists were arrested following information coming from a foreign country defined as a "friendly country."
It is a rare operation in the oil rich empire against terrorist organizations and may have been carried out under Saudi pressure, which is in a long and bloody civil war against the pro-Iranian Houthi rebels in Yemen.
Saudi Arabia is concerned that organizations affiliated with Iran are taking advantage of our Gulf state to launder money, smuggle drugs and recruit terrorist operatives from around the Shiite world.
