2021-11-07T11:31:36.356Z

These two repeat offenders were arrested in flagrante delicto in Paris at the end of October and will be tried in the coming weeks by the court.

This duo of repeat offenders scoured the gay bars of the capital to steal bank cards.

These two men, aged 36 and 37, were referred at the end of October to the Paris prosecutor's office, which ordered their imprisonment pending their appearance before the criminal court for aggravated theft.

They are suspected of having, since July, robbed six men in different Parisian establishments.

At the beginning of October, in the rue du Faubourg Montmartre (IXth), the investigators of the Paris banditry repression squad were alerted by their colleagues on patrol.

Officials spotted two men with suspicious behavior driving around in a Renault Mégane.

These two criminals are already known to investigators for serial bank card thefts.

The police officers of the PJ identify the telephone numbers of Mehmet and Goray and thanks to the geolocation of their boxes note that they are always present in the establishments where customers have had their cards stolen since the beginning of the summer.

They captured the victim's code before stealing his card

The technique was always the same. They watched a victim when she paid for her drinks and thus captured her confidential code and then stole her payment card during the evening. Once the precious sesame was pocketed, the thieves rushed to the first cash machine nearby to withdraw 500 to 1,000 euros, depending on the limit authorized by the bank. The police identify six men, aged 29 to 52, robbed at Zorba, in the pub le Sacre, at the Grosse Caisse and in a bar in the Latin Quarter.

On October 15 at around 1 a.m., the two men were branded in their pants by the officials.

They go to the stock exchange district.

They enter the café-concert "La Grosse Caisse" and manage to grab two bank cards before rushing to an ATM in the rue d'Aboukir.

"One of them stayed in the car and kept watch while the second collected the cash," said a source close to the case.

Five minutes later, the two men were arrested and taken into custody in the premises of the judicial police.

The search made it possible to get hold of 1,000 euros in cash.

One of these men lives in the 19th arrondissement of Paris and the other is homeless.

During their hearings, they partially confessed.
