Poll: Zemmour ahead of Le Pen, popular categories divided

2021-11-07T17:19:14.860Z

As in 2012 and 2017, the candidate of the RN remains the one who seduces, for the moment, the most the “popular categories”.

Eric Zemmour continues to reshuffle the cards.

For the first time in this campaign, the IFOP-Fiducial barometer for LCI and

Le Figaro

places the not-encore-candidate in the second round.

In the event of a candidacy of Xavier Bertrand on the right, he would be ahead of Marine Le Pen (17 against 16%).

The essayist, however, remains far behind President Emmanuel Macron who dominates his competitors with 25% of voting intentions.

While LR activists must nominate their candidate on December 4, it is the president of Hauts-de-France, Xavier Bertrand, who appears to be the best placed on the right (13%). He would do better than the former European commissioner, Michel Barnier (10%), or the president of the Île-de-France region, Valérie Pécresse (9%). A first debate between the five candidates will take place this Monday evening on LCI, in partnership with

Le Figaro

.

However, no left-wing candidate manages to exceed the 10% mark.

Jean-Luc Mélenchon is given at 8.5%, ahead of the environmentalist candidate Yannick Jadot (7%) and the socialist Anne Hidalgo (5%).

The former minister of François Hollande, Arnaud Montebourg, is for his part promised at 2.5%, at the same level as Nicolas Dupont-Aignan, the candidate of Debout France.

Both are narrowly ahead of the Communist Fabien Roussel at 2%.

This new survey also proves that no candidate predominantly convinces the “popular categories”. As in 2012 and 2017, Marine Le Pen nevertheless remains, less than six months from the first round, the candidate who appeals to them the most. It collects 28% of the voting intentions in this category, including 23% of employees and 33% of workers. It is followed by Emmanuel Macron with 18%, also attracting more workers (21%) than employees (15%).

“The issues of purchasing power and inflation appear to be major concerns. One would have thought that his balance sheet would become a liability but for the moment, that does not structure the popular categories. Since François Mitterrand, Emmanuel Macron is the outgoing president with the best score among workers ”

, notes Frédéric Dabi, the general opinion director of Ifop.

Notable point: if he walks on his land, Eric Zemmour does not manage - for the moment - to overtake Marine Le Pen on this electorate.

Only 17% of voters from the “popular categories” would be ready to vote for him, including 25% of employees and only 9% of workers.

Already questioned on this weakness at the end of October, Éric Zemmour was not worried about it, believing in BFM TV that Marine Le Pen could not

"win, since she does not have an alliance with part of the bourgeoisie and the CSP. + ”.

For their part, the candidates from the left as from the right are struggling to attract the popular electorate.

Among the former, Jean-Luc Mélenchon is the best placed with only 9%, ahead of Yannick Jadot (7%), Arnaud Montebourg (4%) and Anne Hidalgo (2%).

On the right, Xavier Bertrand convinces them the most with a low 6%.
