The authorities of Quintana Roo arrested five suspects in the shooting that left two dead this Thursday on a beach in Puerto Morelos, the State Prosecutor's Office reported this Saturday in a statement.
Two of the detainees were arrested this Friday and according to the authorities, they were the drivers of two cars during the incident in the Petempich Bay beach area, when several armed men clashed.
A third individual managed to escape in the operation.

"The first investigations have revealed that the groups are a split from the Sinaloa Cartel, and now spaces for the sale of drugs are being disputed," according to the statement from the Prosecutor's Office.

Three other suspects, who allegedly belong to the rival group that participated in the shooting, were also detained on Friday "after the events occurred, they hid for several hours in the beach area of Bahía Petempich in Puerto Morelos," said the Prosecutor's Office.
CNN is trying to find out if the suspects have legal representation.
A message sent this Saturday to the State Attorney's Office in search of more information had not been answered.
