2021-11-07T22:43:17.646Z

Saxony, Baden-Württemberg and Bavaria are tightening their corona measures - as is Austria. Meanwhile, the US is opening its borders to vaccinated people. That is the situation in Germany and the world.

Germany is fighting the fourth corona wave: The number of new infections continues to rise nationwide.

In Thuringia, Saxony and Bavaria there are more corona cases per 100,000 inhabitants than anywhere else in the republic.

Now the federal states are tightening their measures.

But is that enough to break the wave?

What applies when and where - the overview.

Seven-day incidence over 190

The nationwide seven-day incidence of new corona infections has risen to over 190.

As the Robert Koch Institute (RKI) announced on Sunday morning, citing data from the health authorities, the value increased to 191.5.

The day before it was 183.7, a week ago it was 149.4.

The value indicates the number of new infections per 100,000 inhabitants within seven days.

The new corona rules in the federal states

In no other federal state has the weekly incidence soared as in

Saxony

: The state is reacting to the rapidly increasing number of infections in the state with a significant tightening of measures.

From Monday onwards

, only those who have been vaccinated or have recovered will have access to many areas of public life in Saxony. These include indoor catering, cultural and leisure facilities or football stadiums. FFP2 masks are now mandatory in buses, trains and taxis. Medical mouth and nose protection is sufficient for schoolchildren.

Stricter corona

rules have

been in

effect

in

Bavaria

since Sunday

. The reason for this is the high number of occupied intensive care beds. Only those who have been vaccinated, those who have recovered and people with a negative PCR test have access to inns and events in closed rooms. A rapid antigen test is no longer enough. In addition, an FFP2 mask must generally be worn again. In regions where the number of new infections and intensive care patients is particularly high, even stricter rules apply.

The

Berlin

Senate is planning the introduction of so-called 2G rules for protection against the coronavirus in the capital, according to a newspaper report.

"2G is being prepared," said Health Senator Dilek Kalayci (SPD) on Sunday afternoon the "Tagesspiegel".

However, she did not comment on the measures.

Meanwhile,

Baden-Württemberg

is preparing to declare the highest danger level of the current warning system.

The so-called alert level is associated with stricter corona measures in public life: namely the 2G rule in many everyday situations.

Those who have not been proven to have been vaccinated or recovered will then no longer have access to swimming pools, sports facilities, museums, the interiors of restaurants, snack bars and pubs.

Schleswig-Holstein

, on the other hand, continues to rely on 3G: Health Minister Heiner Garg does not consider strict 2G rules - access to restaurants, shops or events only for vaccinated and convalescents - to be sensible.

3G models, i.e. also granting access to those who have tested negative, are the better approach.

"I don't believe in further massively increasing the pressure on non-vaccinated people," said the FDP politician on ARD.

That doesn't lead to success.

Tests are important and have to be strictly controlled.

The corona situation for children

  • The corona numbers are rising dramatically, especially among children.

Concerned parents are waiting for the child vaccination to finally come.

Read here what role Stiko plays in this, how this body works and why it takes so long.

  • Despite record corona numbers, several federal states have abolished the mask requirement in schools.

The British health scientist Nisreen Alwan explains how risky it is: "Take children's health seriously!"

How are other countries doing?

More than a year and a half after a far-reaching entry ban was imposed, vaccinated Europeans

will

be able to

fly

back to the

USA

from Monday

.

Before departure, travelers must prove that they are fully vaccinated against the coronavirus.

You must also present a negative corona test that is no more than three days old at the airport and leave your data for possible contact follow-up.

In

Austria

, in view of the sharp increase in the number of infections

,

significantly more stringent corona measures will

apply

from Monday

.

The so-called 2G regulation applies in many areas of public life: Visiting restaurants, hairdressers or events with 25 or more guests is only allowed for those who have been vaccinated and those who have recovered.

Tests should still be possible at work.

The

Switzerland

responds to the higher infection events with a national

Immunization Week

.

From November 8th to 14th, 2021, the Swiss can take advantage of various vaccination offers.

The state government is spending millions of francs in taxpayers' money to bring the mRNA vaccine to the population.

Denmark

lifted all corona measures at the beginning of October.

Since then, the number of corona cases has risen sharply.

Most recently, the authorities recorded more than 2,000 new cases for the second day in a row.

The Ministry of Health is now considering classifying the coronavirus again as a "threat to society", which has not been the case since September.

In the

Netherlands

, several thousand people demonstrated against the tightened corona measures.

Since Saturday, in view of the sharp rise in the number of infections and patients, the mask requirement has been in effect again for all publicly accessible places such as shops, libraries, train stations, hospitals and universities.

Proof of vaccination, recovery or corona test is now mandatory for more places such as sports clubs, fitness centers and zoos.

Citizens should also maintain the safety distance of 1.5 meters again.
