London, SANA- The British newspaper The Independent revealed that Brexit losses will be 178 times greater than the most optimistic predictions

Britain's Independent newspaper revealed that Brexit losses will be 178 times greater than the most optimistic forecasts of the benefits of trade agreements.

According to the Office for Budget Responsibility, all of the new post-Brexit trade deals reached by British Prime Minister Boris Johnson will bring benefits of just £3 to £7 per head over the 15 years.

The newspaper pointed out that "the small economic boom, which represents only between 0.01 and 0.02 percent of national income, is less than 50 pounds per person, and is greatly diminished by the economic damage caused by leaving the European Union, which the government estimates at 4 percent of national product during the same period."

The newspaper pointed out, according to an analysis by academics at the British Trade Policy Laboratory at the University of Sussex, that "the free trade agreements that have long been widely known hardly scratch the surface of the challenge facing Britain to compensate for the lost GDP due to leaving the European Union."

The analysis indicates that the vast majority of the free trade agreements announced by the government, such as those signed with South Korea, Singapore and Vietnam, are merely attempts to replace the agreements concluded by these countries with the European Union, of which Britain was a former member.
