There are days when Orr Sinai feels like she is a "film director," but there are also times when that feeling changes. As someone who fell in love with the medium only at a relatively late age, she still builds this compelling image for herself, which comes with the most important role in the production, but when working on a cross-border film starring an actress like Yevgenia Dudina - there is no more time to prepare and organize, and Sinai knows it.

“I feel like I built that readiness, to be a director and I get to it fully now, with my first feature set,” she says. "Today I feel I can carry on a bigger, longer and deeper story. I am learning to define myself as a 'director'."

The new film, "Home," tells the story of a woman named Bella, a foreign worker from Ukraine, who earns a living for many years in the home of a wealthy family from Caesarea. When one day Bella breaks her hand and can not work, she goes home,To her family and discovers that reality is very different from the way she imagined it.

The film, which Sinai worked on in a feature film development incubator for women in collaboration with Mifal HaPais, she will shoot this summer, in Israel and Ukraine, from which she recently returned after two months of research. On the way to the final preparations for the filming, she says: "The greenhouse was an amazing experience. My film shows a female protagonist, who goes through female experiences, so the concept of the women's incubator suited me very well. I was in all kinds of incubators, but this is the first time ", Which provided a very pleasant and encouraging space for my specific work."

As mentioned, "Beit" will be led on screen by Yevgenia Dudina, one of the most esteemed actresses in Israel. The connection between her and Sinai was formed when she starred in the director's short film, "Anna", which enjoyed great success and won the 2016 student film competition at the prestigious Cannes Film Festival: "Yevgenia joined 'Anna' when no one knew what it was going to be. She believed in the film This from the first moment and the relationship with her became very special "

On the first and current collaboration, Sinai adds: "She is an amazing woman and a rare actress. I knew all the way I wanted her, but it took me a while to muster the courage and turn to her and she straight loved the script and devoted, did lots of rehearsals and enjoyed creating something different. I was afraid because she was so "Experienced, it will be difficult for me to direct her, but that was not really the case and now, 'Home' was actually written for her. She is involved in all his work and of course plays the main character."

Become real friends.

The director, who grew up in Kfar Saba, only really discovered cinema when it came time to enroll in school: "I was afraid that if I went to study 'something serious' at university, all the natural creative aspect I had would just disappear." So she went through the complex route and was accepted to Sam Spiegel: "When I was invited for an interview, I quickly saw as many classics as possible, so that I would have in mind the names of directors to throw in, in case I was asked.

Following her studies and winning with "Anna", she began to think about and work on her feature, when as part of Mifal Hapayis' women's incubator, some special experiences helped propel the work forward: "First of all, the encounter with Michal Aviad was very significant for me. To that, being surrounded by women artists, quality women, made me feel less alone.I'm still in touch with some of the women I met in the greenhouse and whenever any of us need something,We stand by her side. "

As part of winning the same award at Cannes, Sinai's new feature will also be screened at the giant festival.

In the meantime, she concludes: "The Women's Incubator is an important project, but I hope we reach a day when we will no longer need such frameworks. A day when women leading movies will not be such a rare sight. In the current situation, the incubator is the best solution. The film and no less important - it gives legitimacy to our content and the place of women, behind and in front of the camera. "
