Around 60 people came to the Church of the Assumption of Christ to stand up for the preservation of creation and for climate protection and to demonstrate against the construction of the third runway at the airport.
"That was comparatively little," said Lichterzeichen spokesman Martin Bauer.
He assumes that this was due to Corona and the currently growing number of infections.
“In this respect, we are again quite satisfied that 60 people came at all.
And we don't want to endanger anyone. ”For this reason, the organizers - like last autumn - decided not to go in the traditional silence.
The participants kept their distance from one another and wore masks.

In his address, Jochen Hauer, retired dean, called on those present to set a good example in terms of climate protection.
“We cannot turn everything around for the better here.
We cannot solve all problems with our small influence either, ”he admitted.
“But we can warn, ask, question.
And we can set up our own lifestyle in such a way that we remain believable to ourselves.
Hopefully we will encourage others to change their lifestyle as well. "

In this context, Hauer also criticized politics. Leading candidates would have given the word renunciation in the federal election campaign, above all, a deterrent effect. The technical progress propagated by politics is important and helpful, but does not release anyone from responsibility for their own future and that of future generations. With regard to the still existing plans for a third runway, he asked those present to remain vigilant.

"I'm afraid that we will have to wait another year due to the corona," said Bauer.
His hope with regard to a possible burial of the third runway: "Maybe we don't have to demonstrate much longer."
