The People’s Assembly’s Budget and Accounts Committee discussed the investment budget of the Ministry of Tourism and its affiliates for the year 2022, estimated at 11 billion Syrian pounds.
In their interventions, the members of the committee called for transfers between budget items to complete the suspended projects of the ministry, pointing out the need for road breaks between the governorates affiliated with the ministry to serve citizens in proportion to their income.
They demanded the construction of a hotel in Homs governorate due to its importance as a central governorate, attention to Aleppo governorate and its monuments, and the restoration of the tourist hotel there and the restoration of the ruins of the city of Palmyra.
And in response to the members’ interventions between the Minister of Tourism, Mohamed Rami Martini, the great difficulties that the ministry faced with the subject of making contracts and the objective conditions that accompanied them as a result of the change in exchange rates and the impact of unilateral coercive measures on the requirements included in the subject of rehabilitation and renewal and global shipping and transport conditions.
Minister Martini explained that the investment budget of the General Authority for Training and Rehabilitation was distributed to projects to rehabilitate elevators and buildings, the alternative energy project, and electronic connectivity through the electronic platform, in cooperation with local community organizations, the United Nations Development Program and the Ministry of Social Affairs and Labor, with the aim of linking graduates of tourism institutes and colleges to the labor market.
