Today, on the beach of Baniyas, in Tartous governorate, a cleaning campaign was launched, which is being organized by the Ministry of Local Administration and Environment in cooperation with the United Nations Development Program, which aims to get rid of any remnants of oil pollution that occurred on the city's shore after fuel leaked from one of the tanks of the thermal station in Baniyas at the end of August. the past.
The director of the environment in Tartous, Dr. Ali Daoud, said in a statement to SANA reporter that the campaign lasts for a whole month, in which workers and volunteers participate, who will clean up the remnants of pollution and dispose of them safely, pointing out that the campaign aims to inspect the entire beach of Tartous city to get rid of any kind of pollution on it.
In turn, Yasser Diop, Director of Readiness in Tartous Governorate, stated that the campaign comes within the framework of completing the complete cleaning of the beach from any plankton or small spots found on the sand or rocks outside the water, indicating that the necessary clothes were distributed to the workers.
The campaign participants stressed the importance of participating in the work to keep the city clean, because cleanliness is the epitome of civilization and to give a good image of the city.
