Lausanne - The Swiss master's student Ken Pillonel created something that many Apple fans dream of.
He rebuilt his iPhone X so that he now has the first iPhone with a USB-C charging port.
This means that the smartphone can be charged with the same cable as a MacBook.
The typical Lightning connector is common on iPhones.

The student published the conversion process on his YouTube channel and made over 1.4 million clicks.
But the comments and Ken's clip also speak volumes.
One user writes: “That is just brilliant.” Another commenter jokes: “Imagine that Apple brings out the iPhone 14 with a USB-C port.
Then they would have to announce it as the 'second iPhone in the world with a USB-C connection'. "
Since the converted smartphone was so well received by its viewers, Pillonel decided to sell the world's only iPhone with a USB-C connection on the online auction platform eBay.
However, he hardly foresaw how much money fans are willing to pay for it: Bids can still be submitted until November 11th.
But if you still want to get involved, you have to dig deep into your pocket.
The current highest bid (as of November 8, 2:50 p.m.) is an unbelievable 100,100 US dollars (equivalent to around 86,400 euros).
The auction started at one dollar.
The second bid was already good at $ 2,050, but the student would probably never have dreamed that someone would be willing to pay over $ 100.00 in the end.
So far, 41 people have bid at the auction.

However, potential buyers should study the product description carefully.
Because Pillonel has provided some restrictions.
The iPhone may not be resold, reset or updated.
In addition, it should not be used as an "everyday mobile phone" and should not be opened.
Rather, it is intended to serve as a collector's item for an Apple fan.
But there is also something else: A 30-minute phone call with Ken himself, in which the buyer can get rid of all the questions that are on his mind about his "new" iPhone.
If the special iPhone is too expensive for you, you have to be patient a little longer.
The EU Commission has already submitted a proposal to standardize the charging connections.
Accordingly, only devices with a USB-C connection should be sold - across all brands.
But it will take some time before the law is launched and implemented.
