The Hong Kong Government announced today (8th) a mandatory test announcement. 12 schools had outbreaks of upper respiratory tract infections and/or influenza-like illnesses, which were included in the mandatory test announcement due to symptoms similar to those of new coronary pneumonia.

The schools involved include English Foundation International Kindergarten (Wu Kai Sha), Po Leung Kuk Tin Ka Ping Kindergarten in Tsing Yi, Kingswood Villas King Wu Ju Tin Lok Kindergarten and Kindergarten in Tin Shui Wai Kingswood Villas, etc. Teachers and students need to be tested on or before this Wednesday (10th).

Among them, Yuen Long and Tin Shui Wai are the hardest hit areas. A total of 5 schools are on the list. Among them is the Chinese Christian Church Yuen Long Church True Light Kindergarten where 20 students were infected. The Centre for Health Protection is investigating.


A spokesman for the Hong Kong Government stated that there were a total of 12 schools with outbreaks of upper respiratory tract infection and/or influenza-like illness. For the sake of caution, the relevant schools or their specified levels have been included in the mandatory testing announcements, including Kwun Tong Methodist Kindergarten, Kwai Chung Sheng Kung Hui Sheng Ji Dao Kindergarten, Yuen Long Jialin Chinese-English Kindergarten and Jialin Kindergarten (Yu Fung Building), Yuen Long Chinese Christian Church Yuen Long Church True Light Kindergarten, Yuen Long Chinese Christian Church Yuen Long Church True Light Kindergarten No. 2 School, Tseung Kwan O Caritas Cuilin Kindergarten School, Yingji International Kindergarten (Wu Kai Sha) on the 1st floor of Silver Lake‧Tian Fung, Ma On Shan, Po Leung Kuk Tin Ka Ping Kindergarten, Yuen Long San Yuk Kindergarten, Tsuen Wan Ling Liang Tong Tsuen Wan Kindergarten, King Wu Ju Tin Lok Kindergarten in Tin Shui Wai Kingswood Villas and Kindergarten, and first-year students of Tuen Mun Government Primary School in Siu Hong Court, Tuen Mun.

The Centre for Health Protection also announced today that it is investigating an upper respiratory infection case involving 20 students in the Yuen Long Tong True Light Kindergarten of the Church of Christ in China. All of them are in stable condition. The school needs to be closed for at least five days for cleaning.

The spokesperson continued that anyone who has been in more than two hours between October 26 and November 8 (including but not limited to full-time, part-time and substitute employees, students and visitors) must be on the 10th of this month or Before being tested.

If the person under inspection chooses to use the sample bottle distributed by the Center for Health Protection for testing, he must return the test sample collection bottle that has been sampled on or before the 12th of this month.

If the person under inspection has been tested between the 6th and 8th of this month, they will be deemed to have complied with the requirements of the mandatory testing announcement.
