The electronics store chains MediaMarkt and Saturn are currently struggling with a hacker attack.
In the shops, customers can apparently only pay with cash at the moment.
Ingolstadt - The electronics retailer MediaMarktSaturn was the target of a cyber attack from Sunday to Monday.
The company immediately informed the responsible authorities, said a spokesman for the MediaMarktSaturn Retail Group in Ingolstadt.
MediaMarktSaturn: web shops not affected
All national subsidiaries of MediaMarktSaturn are affected.
In the stationary markets there could currently be a limited service for some services.
"The web shops are currently not directly affected by the attack," emphasized the company.
There is currently no need for action for customers.
They are working flat out to identify the affected systems and to fix any damage as quickly as possible, it said.
MediaMarktSaturn is still there for its customers on all sales channels.
Meanwhile, a message from the electronics store group is circulating on Twitter.
There it says: "We have identified several Windows servers that are being attacked by a crypto virus and all IT experts have been activated and are currently analyzing the situation."

MediaMarktSaturn: Currently only cash payments
The message also states that the stores will be "offline".
Since the so-called merchandise management system does not work, it is currently not possible to create sales documents or to buy and redeem voucher cards.
Only “Cash and Carry” works.
The tills are apparently at a standstill - cash payment seems to be the only option at the moment.
According to tweets, Dutch branches are also affected by the malware and the associated problems.
The group belonging to the Ceconomy Group operates a total of around 1000 stores of the “Media Markt” and “Saturn” chains in 13 European countries.
