Today, the People's Assembly Budget and Accounts Committee discussed the investment budget of the Ministry of Interior and its affiliates for the year 2022.
The interventions of the committee members focused on the restoration of civil affairs headquarters destroyed as a result of terrorist acts, the construction of new police stations instead of the destroyed ones in the liberated countryside, the issue of the electronic passport, the preparation of criminal security laboratories, the purchase of mechanisms for police units, and the improvement of the official dress of the elements, pointing to the need to be strict in combating the drug phenomenon.
In response to the members’ questions, the Minister of Interior, Major General Muhammad Al-Rahmoun, indicated that it is planned for 2022 to complete the electronic passport project, rebuild and rehabilitate the headquarters of the destroyed police units and provide them with the necessary mechanisms and build and rehabilitate the headquarters of the directorates and secretariats of civil affairs
In the governorates, in addition to purchasing radars and alarms, securing equipment for criminal security laboratories, and following up on the implementation of job housing.
Major General Al-Rahmoun stated that work is currently underway on a project to link with the electronic payment system and a project to link with the digital signature system, which includes replacing the traditional signature of civil affairs workers with an electronic signature to prevent fraud, stressing that the Ministry of Interior continues to combat all crimes, including the drug phenomenon.
