People like Wolfgang Fink are quickly underestimated, which is sometimes because the loud appearance is not their thing.
Fink was commander of the Hofolding volunteer fire brigade from 1994 to 2004, after which he was made an honorary commander.
Now he has died at the age of 75.

- "He was always there for his people", says Matthias Berger, since 2016 in command of the Hofolding fire brigade. But Wolfgang Fink was not only “comradely, prudent, and always striving to find a balance within the comradeship,” says Berger. Fink also had the special gift of anticipating conflicts and problems within his team in good time, even before they could break out. A sure instinct and a knowledge of human nature were then required. Wolfgnag Fink could do a lot with both. And when there was trouble, he always understood how to quickly settle disputes in a diplomatic, but direct, uncomplicated and binding way. "I've never seen Wolfgang being quick-tempered," says Matthias Berger. And: “I learned a lot from him, especially when it comes to leadership.With his style, he is clearly a role model for me. "
Cohesion was important to him
For Fink, who worked as an electrician, the fire brigade in Hofolding should be a center of life.
That was probably one of the reasons why it was important for him that everyone in his team was satisfied.
Especially in difficult missions, he also supported his people by always giving them the feeling of being there for them.
Fink probably suspected that the cohesion within such a close community is not only possible because each individual can do a good job at his or her post.
Motivation through recognition and care were therefore very important to him.
Then there was his professional competence: That was the recipe for an appealing management style.
That he was also sociable and humorous seems almost self-evident.
