Homs-Sana
The composer and pianist Kenan Adnawi took the audience of the House of Culture in Homs on a journey between East and West through musical pieces he presented with the participation of a group of senior musicians.
The ten plays that Adnawi performed at the ceremony varied between works written by him, in addition to a group of oriental classics such as al-Sama'i, longa and western ones.
The concert included salutations and listening with a solo piano dance in a different style, the Damascus road, a dance for lovers, in which the improvisations of several instruments, African flor by author Duke Ellington and Longa by Riyadh Al-Sunbati with a new arrangement, and Joe, which gives a large space to the clarinet, and Ya Mal Al-Sham is a gift for the soul of the late great artist Sabah Fakhri.
The concert was unique in the space that was provided for solo instruments to play solo oriental and western improvised segments, in which the skill of each individual player was demonstrated, in addition to a new participation of woodwind instruments such as flute and percussion such as timbani, which added momentum to the music.
A number of attendees expressed their admiration for the performance of the musicians, their ingenuity, and their ability to diversify and move from eastern to western music.
Adnawi participated in the concert with 12 prominent musicians, including Aghid Mansour, Ali Al-Saleh, Tony Al-Amir and Muhammad Shehadeh.
Kenan Adnawi is a graduate of the Higher Institute of Music in Damascus and continued his postgraduate studies in the United States, specializing in contemporary improvisation, and won a number of international awards in Beirut and Tunisia, and participated in many concerts inside and outside the country.
