Much fuss about maypole

The new play “Yes, the maypole is gone” by the Wörthsee farmers' stage misses reality by a hair's breadth.

The mayor of Strunzenbach, Franz Hintermoser (Klaus Freymann), doesn't just have to deal with domestic problems: a deeply in love daughter Juli (Franziska Gäch) and an imperious wife Traudl (Barbara Gäch).

- To make matters worse, the maypole disappears a few hours before the planned maypole celebration.

“So an scheena Baam”, with a length of 25 meters, as the contentious neighbor Therese smugly states.

The mayor's son Andi (Ludwig Bayer) rushes into the action to announce the theft of the same.

"Such a disgrace, when it is in the newspaper, the whole district laughs at us," fears the mayor.

Therefore, he wants to clarify the case on his own.

To make matters worse, the Simmerl (Uli Wischnewski), a smallholder who took over the last maypole watch, has also disappeared without a trace.

However, before the police (Karl-Heinz Eschner as Mr. Rabe) should be called, Hintermoser insists: “First Simmerl has to come back so that we can clarify whether the theft is wrong. Was a Gäid in the Spui, then the police have to come. ”Wife Traudl now fears that“ de Schand '”could not only mean the end of her husband's term of office, but it bothers her even more that the pretty waitress Birgit (Melanie Belle) has her eye on son Andi. "You leave de Finga from meim Buam, otherwise ..." she threatens the waitress. Because Birgit has the dubious reputation of flying from flower to flower like a butterfly.

Even before there are further misunderstandings, the Simmerl reappears.

"I didn't suck anything, I didn't lift anything, I went to sleep, and until I realized what was happening, it happened and the maypole was gone," he admits meekly.

And he also admits that he drank a beer or two too much.

Just like in real life.

There is a lot of applause from the scene, including for Zenzi, the better half of the small house owner (Erika Schreyegg), who reads the riot act belonging to Simmerl and with the help of a carpet beater.

While it is still puzzled as to whether a replacement tree will be obtained or whether the party will be canceled, Korbi, the chief fire officer of Oberhackelberg (Korbinian Polz), turns up at the mayor and admits that he is responsible for the maypole stealing.

How the case ends can be seen until Sunday, November 21, in the “Augustiner” on Lake Wörth.

The comedy in three acts penned by Marianne Santl was directed by Barbara Gäch, who received much applause from around 100 visitors both for her role as mayor's wife and for her commitment since the stage was founded in 1978.
