Israel's new ambassador to Washington, Michael (Mike) Herzog, will take up his post early next week.
He is expected to arrive in the US capital in the coming days.
Herzog will replace Gilad Ardan, who has held the post since the beginning of the Biden administration's tenure.
Bennett and Lapid agreed that Herzog would be appointed for four years - that is, he would continue to serve even after the date of their rotation.
Herzog, 69, is the brother of President Yitzhak Herzog.
Prior to his appointment as Ambassador, he served as an International Research Fellow at the Washington Institute.
During his 40 years of service in the IDF, Herzog served in a number of senior positions, including head of the Strategic Planning Division in the Planning Division as well as the military secretary and chief of staff of the defense minister during the tenure of four defense ministers.
Herzog took an active part in many political negotiations under five prime ministers, and served as a special political envoy on behalf of the Prime Minister in 2014-2009.
