The implementation would be a traffic planning turning point in favor of living quality and security: The SPD parliamentary group in the Peißenberg market council has applied for a 30 km / h speed zone to be set up across the board in the residential area between Hauptstrasse, Bachstrasse and Ludwigstrasse. Large parts of the village district would thus fall under the regulation.

Peissenberg

- First there is car traffic and then nothing for a long time: This is what the traffic planning concept looked like in most municipalities for many years. But times have changed. In the city and community day there are more and more advocates who advocate a general speed limit to 30 km / h within the city limits. The legal framework of the road traffic regulations are still pretty rigid. Tempo 30 is legally difficult to enforce, especially on the main traffic arteries. Only a few months ago the market council dealt with a motion by the Free Voters (FW) to impose a speed limit on parts of the main road (we reported). The town hall administration referred to the legal situation and the negative attitude of the police. The bottom line was that there wasn't much left of the FW application:The introduction of Tempo 30 is now to be checked for only one lane on the Rigi Center curve in the direction of Weilheim.

SPD cites safety aspects

In the transport policy debate, the SPD parliamentary group has now dared to make a new attempt: at the latest market council meeting, Bernd Schewe read out a motion on behalf of his parliamentary group colleagues that all side streets in the area between Hauptstraße, Bachstraße and Ludwigstraße should be designated as a 30 km / h zone .

The comrades hope that this will result in more road safety, more quality of living, less noise and increased cycling.

The proposal also includes the inclusion of the western Bachstraße up to the confluence with Forster Straße, the entire Ebertstraße and the lower main street.

Tempo 30 would not be a real limitation

In the justification for the application, the SPD cites above all security aspects: The specified local area is essentially defined as a residential area. But apart from Bachstrasse, there are almost no sidewalks on the traffic routes. “This is one of the reasons why local parents perceive the way to school or kindergarten subjectively as unsafe,” say the comrades. The wide Ebertstrasse in particular encourages drivers to drive faster. In the narrower cross streets, the permitted speed of 50 km / h could not be driven if the speed was adapted to the external circumstances. An official speed reduction to 30 km / h would not be a real limitation. "From observations, however, it can be determined that not every driver adapts to the conditions of the narrow streets," says the SPD application:"In these cases, it would be helpful to limit the maximum speed and make it clearer."

Cycling is not neglected either

The parliamentary group sees a similar problem with the main routes in the neighborhood. The Bachstraße has "in large parts a confusing street course". Parking cars would create additional restrictions. However, the speed is not adjusted by all vehicle drivers. The comrades put a special focus on the crossing from the exit from the Staltmayrweg towards the adventure playground on the Hutterer Leite. The market council recently decided to improve visibility in this area by cutting back the greenery along the road. In the opinion of the comrades, the potential for conflict could be further defused by a 30 km / h zone. That is why the western Bachstrasse should also be included in the speed limit - because it is also "not to be regarded as relevant for regional traffic".

And then the SPD also dedicates its application to cycling on Ebertstraße: A “bike route” is proposed from the “Sonne” inn in the direction of Weilheim to the “Dehner” garden center.

In the course of this, specially designated lanes for cyclists and pedestrians, areas to improve the approach visibility at the intersection areas and elements with a stay function could be created on Ebertstraße.

We will discuss the SPD proposal in one of the next market council meetings.
