The gunshot death of two young men on October 31 in Carcassonne is linked to rivalries between neighborhoods, in a context of "
idleness and early school dropout
", said Monday, November 8 the public prosecutor of Narbonne.
These deaths were followed by six arrests and then an indictment with provisional detention.

It is permissible to consider that this tragedy is in direct connection with the animosities of districts which exist in the municipality of Carcassonne between certain young people of the district of Viguier and those of the district of Grazailles
", two sensitive cities, affirmed during a press conference with prosecutor Eric Camous.
He stressed, however, that "
nothing
" allowed "
to associate what happened with possible drug trafficking
".
Two young people aged 18 and 20 killed
Regarding the course of the evening, the Narbonne prosecutor indicated that "
first tensions
" had taken place in the district of Grazailles shortly before 9:00 p.m., but that the police could not move, "
all the staff being already engaged on other neighborhoods
”. About an hour later, several young people from the Viguier district joined by car one of their comrades who was near the Grazailles district. There, from an apartment on the first floor, witnesses spoke of "
heavy fire which suggests an automatic weapon
".
The first victim, Billel, 20, shows bullet holes "
from top to bottom, left to right,
" according to the autopsy.
Anas, 18, was then fatally wounded by bullets in the thorax.
"
Investigations are underway to determine the nature of the weapon used
", but 9mm caliber projectiles were found by the police.
The judicial investigation was opened on Saturday for intentional homicide, attempted homicide, destruction of evidence, concealment of documents likely to obstruct the manifestation of the truth and possession of category A weapon (weapon of war) , detailed the prosecutor.
The mis en cause, imprisoned, is 21 years old, and has a clean criminal record.

He does not hold any diploma, has never worked and admits to regularly consuming
" cannabis, added the same source.

Most of the young people concerned by this file are in a situation of idleness linked to early school leaving without any commitment to training or professional activity
