Colombian President Iván Duque announced on Saturday on his Twitter account that the alleged mastermind of the attack on the helicopter that was transporting him from the Sardinata municipality to the city of Cúcuta on June 25 was arrested.
“Those who intend to sow terror will not be able to escape the actions of our #Public Force.
In the municipality of El Tarra, Norte de Santander, aliases, “Aurelio”, alleged intellectual and material author of the attack against the presidential helicopter on June 25 in Cúcuta, was captured, ”Duque wrote on his official Twitter account.
The news was also confirmed by Interior Minister Daniel Palacios who said that Aurelio Suárez Pérez, alias “Aurelio”, was captured in the San Martín 5 operation in a joint operation between the military forces and the National Police.

The aircraft in which Duque, the Minister of Defense, Diego Molano;
the Minister of the Interior, Daniel Palacios;
the governor of Norte de Santander, Silverio Serrano;
and the mayor of Cúcuta, Jairo Yáñez, among others, received 6 bullet wounds, according to the Colombian Air Force (FAC).
All people on board were unharmed.
In July, the Colombian government attributed to the dissident group of the FARC, Frente 33, which says it operates in Venezuela, the attack for which they have arrested 10 dissidents and a retired Army captain, who was accused in that moment, of being the ideologue of the attack.
