The US opens its borders to vaccinated foreigners.

This means that travelers from Germany can also re-enter from this Monday (November 8th).

However, there are things to keep in mind.

Washington - More than one and a half years after a far-reaching entry ban was imposed, vaccinated Europeans will be able to fly back to the USA from Monday (November 8, 2021).

Before departure, travelers must prove that they are fully vaccinated against the coronavirus *.

You must also present a negative corona test that is no more than three days old at the airport and leave your data for possible contact follow-up.

The corresponding regulation came into effect after a proclamation by US President Joe Biden at 0.01 a.m. (local time / 6.01 a.m. CET) on Monday.

USA: Which vaccines are accepted?

According to the new regulation, vaccines will be accepted that have received approval or emergency approval from the US Food and Drug Administration (FDA) or the World Health Organization (WHO).

This currently applies to the preparations from Biontech / Pfizer, Astrazeneca, Moderna, Johnson & Johnson, Sinopharm and Sinovac.

A combination of two of these preparations is also possible:

Biontech / Pfizer

Astrazeneca

Moderna

Johnson & Johnson

Sinopharm

Sinovac

USA lifts entry ban for foreigners

In March 2020, under President Donald Trump, the US government imposed entry bans on travelers from the Schengen area, Great Britain and Ireland in view of the corona pandemic.

Trump's successor Joe Biden stuck to these so-called travel bans, which was increasingly criticized in Germany and other EU countries.

In September, the White House announced that it would reopen the borders to vaccinated travelers in November.

This also ends the US corona entry bans for China, India, Brazil, South Africa and Iran.

USA: Are there any exemptions from the mandatory vaccination requirement for travelers?

There are only a few exceptions to the vaccination requirement for international travelers, for example for children or people who cannot be vaccinated for health reasons.

US citizens are exempt from the vaccination requirements for entry anyway.

According to the flight schedule, 19 direct flights to the USA will be offered from Frankfurt by noon, of which Lufthansa will operate twelve.

Singapore Airlines kicks off at 8:20 a.m.

Other providers are the US companies United, American and Delta as well as the German vacation airline Condor.

The airlines hope that the additional market opening for EU citizens will result in strong sales growth.

Meanwhile, the number of coronavirus infections in Germany has skyrocketed.
