The days of the Huberwirt are apparently numbered: Instead of the inn in Osterwarngau, a new building with only apartments has been applied for.

The Warngau local council gave the plans the blessing of the community - not without regret.

Warngau -

The Huberwirt in Osterwarngau is not a classic restaurant with regular opening times. But it is a lynchpin in village public life. The inn and hall are open for meetings and celebrations by appointment. Trachtler elect their board of directors here, local political groups of all stripes like to elect their candidates here. The guesthouse is still available as usual until further notice, they say on request. But the end is looming.

The family has applied for the property at Dorfstrasse 15 to be demolished and rebuilt. In the new building in the same dimensions as before, only living spaces are primarily intended for personal use, explained Cindy Scharein from the municipality's building department to the municipal council. A new basement is added, which has not yet existed. The outer facade will be designed in a typical local way and will have a surrounding balcony. The five apartments required eleven parking spaces, which are shown, among other things, in a double garage.

An outbuilding with garages and storage rooms next to the listed Salettl is also affected by the new construction plans, Scharein reported to the local council.

At an on-site meeting with representatives from the District Office and the State Office for Monument Protection, it was agreed that the garages would be demolished and a new building could be built three meters to the south, in which a residential unit for the owner would be housed.

“The Salettl must be preserved,” explained Scharein.

The two necessary parking spaces are verified in the southern area of the building.

An economy "in which you can sit down for a long time"

Since the area is inside, both projects were undisputed in terms of building law. The views also met with approval in the local council. "You have made a lot of work to deal with the existing building," said Mayor Klaus Thurnhuber (FWG). The municipal council therefore gave the plans the municipal agreement, the replacement of the inn with 14: 1 votes, the replacement of the outbuilding unanimously - albeit with sadness.

Leonhard Obermüller (CSU) found it "regrettable that a traditional village economy is no longer there".

But he understands the planning that is owed to a generation change.

"It's a bitter loss for Osterwarngau," emphasized Anton Bader (FWG), "it hurts me brutally, also for club life." he remarked mischievously.
