Damascus-SANA

With the participation of Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs and Emigrants, Dr. Bashar Al-Jaafari, the Diplomatic Institute at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Emigrants organized today a presentation by the Australian writer and professor of political science at the University of Sydney, Professor Tim Anderson, about his two books propagandizing the dirty war on Syria and the axis of resistance in the Middle East.

At the beginning of the presentation, Dr. Al-Jaafari confirmed in his speech that Professor Anderson came from a Western country specialized in international relations and wrote in 2016 a book of 240 pages about the dirty war on Syria, which was followed by another book in 2020 of 445 pages called “The Axis of Resistance in the Middle East” in which he proved The so-called “sanctions, humanitarian intervention and the protection of civilians” are just words to reintroduce colonialism in a new way, which Anderson called at the time “neo-colonialism.”

Dr. Al-Jaafari pointed out that the support provided by Professor Anderson to Syria was not limited to the period of the terrorist war that began since 2011 until now, but on this date he was among the first to warn of the danger of being drawn into terms such as the terms of the Arab Spring and the popular revolution and other misleading slogans that began to be promoted It was in Tunisia in early 2011, and he is a strong defender of the Palestinians and has honorable positions in this regard. He paid the price for that, as he was suspended from teaching at the university, where he was studying in 2019, just because he carried a picture of the Zionist flag with the sign of Nazism.

Regarding the double standards with which Western countries deal, Dr. Al-Jaafari explained that only in Syria is a moderate and armed opposition allowed, but in France, Britain and the United States, this is not allowed. Under this pretext, illegal economic sanctions were imposed on Syria, knowing that these sanctions, according to the United Nations, are illegal Every year, the Second Committee of the United Nations General Assembly issues a resolution rejecting sanctions and considering them illegal, and this voice is what we call international legitimacy.

Dr. Al-Jaafari pointed out that the crisis in Syria was accompanied by the emergence of intellectual and cultural icons friendly to Syria and its people and who defended Syria, such as Professor Anderson, US Senator Richard Black, British blogger Vanessa Bailey, former French ambassador Michelle Rambo, Mexican-American activist Carla Estia, and the American Peace Group and its most prominent members Barbara Lee and James Jackson Gus New Old, Alice Farmer, Leslie Kegant, and not forgetting also Professor Ian Henderson, the former investigator in the Organization for the Prohibition of Chemical Weapons, Jose Al-Bustani, the former executive director of this organization, the American journalist Aaron Mattei, the British writer and journalist Patrick Seale and many European Parliamentarians.

In his presentation entitled “Sanctions or War of Siege”, Professor Anderson explained the true meaning of the terms hybrid war and economic war as sanctions and confronting the siege war, considering that the decline in Washington’s relative economic power prompted it to launch a series of hybrid wars in an attempt to maintain its position, influence and dominance in the world.

Anderson pointed out that the unilateral coercive measures taken by Washington under the name of “illegal” sanctions because international law prohibits economic coercion through the implicit principle of non-interference in the United Nations Charter and “illegal” for the existence of the illegal intent which is to harm the economy of another country and the rights of the states party The third is for the purpose of political coercion, as it violates the international norms and treaties regulating the work of the World Trade Organization and others.

The so-called “sanctions” associated with land and sea blockades and propaganda wars that aim to change the regime are “a form of siege,” Anderson explained, pointing out that contemporary examples of this are economic wars against Syria, Cuba, Iran, Nicaragua, Venezuela and Yemen, and this is similar to “sanctions.” Partial” on the resistance groups in Iraq and Lebanon, which embodies the true meaning of political coercion in order to limit the influence of these groups.

In response to the questions of the participants in the presentation, Professor Anderson explained the importance of differentiating between what the United States and its allies call sanctions and the siege war imposed on Syria, which at the same time aim to subjugate Syria and other sovereign, independent countries, stressing the illegality of American economic wars against the independent countries of the world and their violation of all laws and charters International.

Professor Anderson called for strengthening media campaigns aimed at informing Western public opinion objectively of the size and dimensions of the siege war being waged against Syria and the accompanying hostile propaganda campaigns that include a large amount of information, rationale and misconceptions promoted by the United States and its European allies to implement their projects and agendas against Syria.

In response to a question by SANA about the severity of the unilateral coercive measures imposed on Syria compared to other countries, Anderson explained that the sanctions imposed by the United States and its allies on Syria, according to the study he conducted, are harsher and more severe than the sanctions imposed on Cuba previously and currently, because the United States and the Union The Europeans jointly participated in the sanctions against Syria, while the Europeans did not participate in the sanctions against Cuba, stressing that the sanctions imposed against Palestine and Yemen, which is suffering a tragic situation today, should also not be forgotten.

The importance of the two books is clear as propaganda about the dirty war on Syria and the axis of resistance in the Middle East, according to what Anderson said in a statement to reporters by inviting people of good conscience around the world to see the severity of the siege war being waged against Syria, indicating that there are many agencies of the United Nations that She is trying to condemn this siege, so the more people who raise their voice in solidarity with Syria, the better the situation.

Professor Anderson had concluded his book signing ceremonies a few days ago with the propaganda of the Dirty War on Syria and the Axis of Resistance in the Middle East, at the Syrian Book Fair hosted by Al-Assad National Library in Damascus over a period of 12 days.
