She was brutally attacked by two men without being able to defend himself properly.

Sylvia V. didn't want to have to experience something like that again.

That's why she trained as a martial artist - in a method that is out of the ordinary and can be fatal for the opponent.

County -

It happened in the spring.

The 52-year-old Sylvia V. (name changed) was attacked and seriously injured by two young men on her own doorstep.

Their tormentors will be at large by next year's trial.

You can run into the woman again at any time.

After the attack, Sylvia V. did not dare to step out of her own four walls.

The police and psychologist even advised a change of residence.

But that was out of the question for the 52-year-old.

She is firmly rooted in her hometown.

So she looked for another way out of the dilemma - and found it in a martial arts school.

Jürgen Puschmann works there as a voluntary Krav-Maga trainer.

The martial arts technique Krav Maga was developed by a Hungarian in the 1930s and perfected by the Israeli military.

The 55-year-old trainer is an engineer (vehicle technology, aircraft construction, economics).

He is married to a Brazilian woman and lived in the South American country for six years.

Inspired by a neighbor in Sao Paolo, he completed a trial training session with a work colleague who specialized in Krav Maga.

“The neighbor stopped immediately, I stayed.” When Puschmann returned to Germany, he was a black belt carrier and himself a trainer.

Since then he has been training martial arts students at the CSC Combat Sports Center in Emmeringen.

There Puschmann, who as a deeply devout Christian also finds his mental strength in faith, met Sylvia V. After a few months, the frightened woman has turned into a courageous fighter: “I am much more self-confident and have confidence in myself . "

In the practice units with the 52-year-old, Puschmann also fights realistically in the open air. Why strollers in a piece of forest stop in shock when a man masked with a hard hat and armed with a stick or rubber knife rushes at a supposedly defenseless woman in front of their eyes. It is Sylvia V. who, in the following split seconds, incapacitates the attacker with targeted attacks. “It's important to lose all inhibitions and dare to fight back mercilessly,” she explains

In contrast to Asian martial arts, Krav Maga, made famous from novels about the Israeli secret service Mossad, is all about effectiveness.

Incapacitating your opponent works fastest when you injure him.

Best on sensitive areas such as genitals or eyes.

Which is why Silvia V. attacks her trainer with full force during the practice sessions twice a week in the forest.

However, the 52-year-old does not want to rely on her clout alone.

On the advice of the police, she now has a small gun license, has completed shooting training and always carries a pistol with her.

"I learned to defend myself."
