The Burggen Family Support Association faces an uncertain future after its most recent general meeting.

A lack of successors for the board could mean the dissolution.

Burggen

- Eight out of 70 members have found their way to the latest general meeting of the Burggen family support association.

The chairwoman Christine Thaler-Lang gave an overview of the activities of the association in the past year.

Above all, the holiday program with 33 events and 103 participants aged three to 13 from 66 families was the largest item in the list.

Instead of a carnival party, there was a painting and photo competition this year.

Virtual scavenger hunt and financial support

At Easter, the family support association offered a virtual scavenger hunt.

As a “replacement” for a school festival, the association organized a balloon artist for the Burggen elementary school.

He financed a storyteller for the inauguration of the forest hut of the St. Anna kindergarten.

The lunchtime care at the elementary school, the library and the Burggen children's choir were also financially supported.

Also on the agenda that evening was the biennial election of the board of directors and the two cash auditors.

Due to the lack of a quorum - at least ten members must appear for the meeting - and missing candidates, no new election could be made.

The association is considered a recognized partner

At the general assembly in 2020, treasurer Martina Hörkner and chairwoman Christine Thaler-Lang announced that they would no longer be available for re-election.

Auditor Sonja Müller, who has been in office since 2015 like Hörkner and Thaler-Lang, is also renouncing another term of office.

“An association for children, young people and families always needs new ideas and enthusiasm in order to remain successful.

That is why it is important, ”says Thaler-Lang,“ to have a regular change in the board of directors. ”For many, the family support association is an important part of village culture.

The association is considered a recognized partner.

Board only provisionally in office

For example, the village Christmas was promoted together with the parents' council of the St. Anna kindergarten and other Burggen associations.

"It is particularly bitter that the club is now facing the risk of dissolution," Thaler-Lang continued.

Without an election, the existing board of directors will remain in office on a provisional basis and will only perform the most necessary tasks.

Those in attendance forged a rescue plan on the evening of the meeting.

In the coming year, the family support association has been in existence for 20 years.

A second general meeting is planned for the beginning of 2022, at which, on the one hand, elections and, on the other hand, the anniversary will be celebrated.

If no new board members can be found by then, the next step is the dissolution of the association.
