GAP - At the annual general meeting of the twin town association Garmisch-Partenkirchen, President Peter Ries welcomed a large number of members and the 2nd Mayor Claudia Zolk, who brought the greetings from the market. At the beginning of the meeting, Martin Schneyder from the Bund Naturschutz presented a planned project with a nature conservation organization in Chamonix. It is about cross-border cooperation in the field of nature conservation. Both areas have a high level of biodiversity.

The project is about environmental education and mutual exchange of experiences. In May 2022, Mr. Schneyder will travel to Chamonix to make the first contacts. Afterwards, a return visit is planned, which will hopefully lead to another field of activity in order to further strengthen the partnership with Chamonix. In his report, Peter Ries was able to point to very few activities as most of them had fallen victim to the pandemic. Only this year's visit to the Partenkirchen band in September 2021 will mark the beginning of the exchange again. Peter Ries thanked the 2nd chairman of the band, Andreas Eursch, for the active friendship with Chamonix, who responded warmly. This was followed by the reports from the coordinators, which were only canceled very briefly due to the restrictions caused by the corona.

After the cash report of the treasurer Maximilian Kleinsorgen, the report of the auditors followed, who certified the treasurer a boardless work and the discharge of the board. The second mayor then elected the new board as the electoral board. The election result was as follows: President Peter Ries, Treasurer and Vice President Maximilian Kleinsorgen, Coordinator Aspen Alexander Wanisch, Coordinator Chamonix Sibylle Pander, Coordinator Lahti (new) Marion Caspers, Secretary Birgit Neuner, Auditor Michael Deindl and Stephanie Fichtl. Finally, the old and new President thanked the two long-standing board members Trudi Vogt and Aino Frömel for their work and presented them both with a gift and a bouquet of flowers. Then the evening ended harmoniously with personal discussions. kb
