An unattainable dream?

Not necessarily: Theaters are always looking for actors through casting calls.

The Munich Gärtnerplatztheater and the Deutsches Theater are currently on the lookout: Both houses need support. In the former, the musical "Tschitti Tschitti Bäng Bäng" will be resumed from March 18, in the staging of artistic director Josef E. Köpplinger. Since the premiere on April 30, 2014, the piece has been inspiring, from the stage design to the costumes to the cheeky songs old and young. The story is based on the novel by "James Bond" creator Ian Fleming and is about the inventor Caractacus Potts, who uses a racing car to build a miracle car called "Tschitti Tschitti Bang Bang" for his children - with which the family will soon have to go on an adventurous hunt for liberation .We are looking for singers for the children's choir and a boy and a girl for the roles of the inventor's adventurous children - lead roles.

The casting is on November 12th from 4 p.m., the selection of the solo roles on November 13th: Applicants should be between seven and twelve years old.

They bring along two songs of their choice and two stanzas of a poem to audition.

And then it's time to beat the excitement.

For the solo roles, previous experience is an advantage

For the solo roles, a certain amount of previous experience is an advantage, as Roman Staudt from the Gärtnerplatztheater says.

"Above all, however, the children should be willing to play and be open - they have to dare to jump across the stage." The house is also looking for talented singers for the children's choir.

Everyone can audition here.

“We are always looking for children for the choir who have talent and enjoy singing,” says Staudt.

The performances in March have already been completed, and most of the rehearsals will take place during the Christmas holidays.

After all, the school shouldn't suffer on the side.

The example of Marinus Hohmann shows that a role in the Gärtnerplatztheater can also be a stepping stone and the beginning of an acting career.

In 2014 he played his son Jeremy in the premiere of "Tschitti Tschitti Bäng Bäng" and has already played in several cinema and television films, for example in Caroline Links "When Hitler Stole the Pink Rabbit".

Staudt reveals: "All children who take part naturally have the chance of other roles with us."

Deutsches Theater: In search of the little bear

The Deutsches Theater has also started a casting call: The little bear in the children's musical “Oh, how beautiful is Panama” is to be cast.

The musical is based on the movie of the same name and tells Janosch's story of the little tiger and little bear who go on a wondrous journey to Panama.

The theater is looking for a professional for this, because: The production is already finished, the little bear is being incorporated into the show.

In return, he gets video material from the preview performances in the summer to practice.

Stage rehearsals will take place from mid-December.

And the first performance date is already on December 25th.

"Getting into a completed production is a challenge," explains Georg Kleesattel from the Deutsches Theater, "but it's feasible."

The male applicants should be between 20 and 40 years old and no more than 1.75 meters tall.

Good acting, dancing and singing skills are required.

In addition, the future bear should be fit and speak good German.

Such casting calls would offer great opportunities, especially for young talent, as Roman Staudt knows.

And as Janosch says: "Experiences are like apple pie: homemade is best."
