Tuesday: November 9th: Incidence at 868, district again sad leader

As can be predicted, the 7-day incidence in the Miesbach district has shot up again.

According to the Robert Koch Institute, it is 868. In addition, there have been three more deaths in connection with the corona virus in the past three days.

The number rose to 90.

Monday November 8: 340 new cases in three days

A comparatively low number of new infections on Friday may have raised false hopes.

Because the infection rate in the Miesbach district is still extremely high.

The district office registered 233 new cases on Monday alone.

Together with those at the weekend, there are 340. In the sum of the past seven days, that's 871. The Robert Koch Institute would therefore have to report about this value on Tuesday.

Measured by the number of inhabitants, the communities most affected are Fischbachau (approx. 5700 inhabitants) and Irschenberg (approx. 3200 inhabitants).

There were 101 or 67 new infections there in the past seven days.

The number has also risen sharply in Miesbach.

On Friday, the district office reported 89 cases in the previous week, 118 on Monday.

The regional hospital traffic light has been officially red since Sunday. Corresponding rules apply.

Friday, November 5th: Straßmüller: "With your back to the wall"

The chairman of the medical district association, Thomas Straßmüller, addresses the Miesbach population with a video message.

In it he appeals to people to take responsibility for their own lives, fears that the coming winter could be very difficult and is concerned because the local health system “has its back to the wall as early as the beginning of November”.

Thursday, November 4th: Incidence increased again - front runner in Germany

6 p.m.:

The district office again registered an enormously high number of new infections (193) on Thursday.

The high incidence remains for the time being.

The east of the district is noticeably affected: Miesbach (93) as well as Irschenberg and Fischbachau (73 each) have the highest numbers of infections in the past seven days.

The latter municipalities are rather small.

In the meantime, vaccination has picked up.

But especially with the refreshments.

Almost 900 people got the booster in the past seven days.

Only about 350 a primary vaccination.

After all, the latter was 50 more than in the previous weeks.

10 a.m.:

In the Miesbach district, the 7-day incidence has reached a new Germany-wide high.

715.7 infections per 100,000 inhabitants became infected with the coronavirus in the past week.

The infection rate is still most intense in the age groups five to 14 (incidence: 1259) and 15 to 34 (1062)

Wednesday, November 3rd: at the top nationwide

A sad record for the district of Miesbach: According to the Robert Koch Institute (RKI), it has the highest incidence value in all of Germany at 683. On Tuesday, the value was still 621. Together with other badly affected regions in southern Bavaria, the Miesbach district office is therefore once again issuing a general order aimed at curbing the incidence of infection. As a result, contact persons of infected people who have to be in quarantine can only test themselves after ten days (previously seven). This applies to all cases identified from today, Thursday. Those who have been vaccinated or have recovered and are symptom-free do not have to be quarantined. (You can find the other new rules here)

Theoretically, the district could go it alone and order measures that are only known from the lockdown. As the district office reports on request, the Infection Protection Act would provide this. In practice, however, orders from individual districts would not make sense. There was consensus on this between District Administrator Olaf von Löwis and his colleagues. In the case of a patchwork of different regulations, "nobody knows their way around anymore, and accordingly nobody adheres to them," it says. Löwis cannot hide a certain perplexity: "We are still puzzled as to how we can best take the bull by the horns."

What the district administrator - in addition to the overloading of the hospital - definitely causes great concern are major events, including citizens' meetings.

These have “a high legal and political status.

But in the current situation I can only appeal to keep the contacts as low as possible - be it through online formats or through hybrid events. ”Next week there will be a video conference with the district administrator and mayors.

Meanwhile, Löwis has moved the main responsibility one step higher.

"Even stricter rules such as a lockdown for unvaccinated people - that can only be done from above." And in fact, the state government yesterday announced stricter regulations, especially for corona hotspots, which will apply from Saturday (see cover section of this issue).

It is unclear whether the harsher rules of 3G plus and 2G are or not.

In any case, the district's vaccination bus experienced an unusually high rush on Tuesday and Wednesday.

In particular, initial and booster vaccinations were in demand, according to the district office.

The bus could have stayed longer in Kreuth and Holzkirchen.

But the team had to continue to the vaccination center.

Its head Beate Faus, according to the district office, "has already taken countermeasures and informed the government that we will now increase capacities again due to the high demand".

Speaking of increasing capacities: the Bundeswehr approved the administrative assistance application from the district office on Tuesday.

Five soldiers have been helping the Contact Tracing Team since yesterday, which means that 30 people are now involved in identifying close and particularly vulnerable contacts - twice as many as a few weeks ago.

According to the intensive care register, there was no free intensive care bed at the Agatharied hospital yesterday.

Because there are hardly any free intensive care beds in the entire control center area and the incidence is over 300, both criteria for a red clinic traffic light in the region are met.

Eight Covid patients are currently being treated there - and all of them are ventilated.

Tuesday, November 2nd: "Containment" instead of contact tracking - and that with the help of the Bundeswehr

Tracking contacts with people infected with corona has long been out of the question, so the district office is therefore limited in its activities to so-called "containment". In other words: The Contact Tracing Team focuses on identifying household members and vulnerable groups of people, for example in nursing or care facilities. There is still enough to do with that. Therefore, the district office has not only assigned additional personnel from other - thus weakened - areas of the authority to establish contacts, but again asked for the help of the Bundeswehr. Five soldiers should help. The application was made at the weekend, an answer is pending.

To make it clear what the follow-up means, the district administration gives an example: In the week before the holiday, 143 children and young people tested positive. With an average class size of 30 students, the Contact Tracing Team should have informed 4290 contact persons. Cannot be done. The authority therefore asks infected people to inform their contacts themselves and not to wait for a call from the health department. Household members, for example, must be quarantined immediately if they have not been vaccinated or have recovered. A free test is now only possible after the seventh day.

After a few reports on the weekend, the district office registered many positive cases again on Monday and Tuesday: 80 and 157. The 7-day incidence is particularly high in the 5 to 14 age groups. Here it is 1270. While it is still in this age group elsewhere is higher, the value from 943 to 15 to 34 year olds means first place in Germany.

The District Office does not have an explanation for this either.

In the meantime, the willingness to vaccinate has apparently tightened again.

With 767 doses administered, the demand at the vaccination center was as high as it was last at the beginning of September, according to the district office's Tuesday update.

Monday, November 1st:

What was already foreseeable has now come true: The 7-day incidence in the Miesbach district rose from Thursday.

The Robert Koch Institute (RKI) reports a value of 558 on Allerheiligen. This means that the district is currently in the third highest place of the cities and districts in Germany most affected by the coronavirus.

On Sunday, October 31, the value was 593. According to the RKI, the Miesbach district recorded a relative high point on Saturday, October 30, with 624 new infections within the last seven days.

On Friday the value was 567.

From today, November 1st, the general decree passed on Friday with stricter corona rules will apply.

It includes, among other things, the return to the FFP2 mask requirement and the 2G rule for clubs and discos.

Thursday, October 28th:

The 7-day incidence in the Miesbach district, which fell slightly on Thursday to 426, was possibly just the calm before the storm.

Because in the late afternoon, the district office published a worrying record number of new infections: 200 positive cases became known today.

The previous record was 96. Again, the district office cannot determine an event or a facility for the high number, but can only determine a generally very high incidence of infections.

The numbers are particularly high in Warngau with 68 new infections in the past seven days.

The value on Monday was still 34. The corona virus also seems to be spreading quickly in Weyarn (51, Monday: 26) and Waakirchen (55, 34).

Corona numbers on October 28, 2021

In total, the district office came to 571 new infections in the past week.

The 7-day incidence reported by the Robert Koch Institute this Friday will be about as high.

The 100,000-inhabitant district of Miesbach will then appear in the even more alarming pink on the map of Germany.

The infection process makes it even more difficult for the district office's contact tracing team to trace the contacts.

The employees are gradually desperate, it is said.

According to reports, something similar is taking place in the Rosenheim district.

Mühldorf and Traunstein have long been above an incidence of 500.

Tuesday October 26th: Possible Causes of Record Incidence - Coming Limitations

District - The district office has presented possible causes and consequences of the exploding incidence in the Miesbach district. The authority notes: Compared to earlier phases of the pandemic with comparatively high numbers, there are no longer any facilities such as nursing homes that could be held responsible for at least a portion of the new infections. The infection process is diffuse and most chains of infection can no longer be traced.

The first explanation that the district office provides for this situation is the lack of a recovery phase between the end of the summer vacation and the cold, wet autumn weather.

The wave of positively tested return travelers spilled over Bavaria late this year, and bad weather began shortly afterwards.

At the same time, infections from repeatedly badly affected districts such as Rosenheim were carried across the border into the district.

Everything has driven the numbers up here.

But the district office also says: Many citizens are carefree in dealing with the virus and ignored protective measures.

The authority also confirms rumors of corona parties where young people intentionally contract the virus.

However, she is not aware of any specific cases.

Another reason for the high numbers are the legal requirements: According to the health department, it is too short for asymptomatic contact persons to be allowed to free themselves from quarantine on the fifth day: Many are positive a few days later.

In the meantime, they unwittingly spread the virus.

Many people would do the same because they misinterpret mild symptoms of illness.

Unvaccinated family members of infected people are 100 percent infected

Schools are no infection drivers, reports the authority. "There are almost no transmissions in school, but almost exclusively at private meetings of students." Since a lot of tests are carried out in schools at the same time, these many cases are also uncovered. Currently 90 out of a total of 12,000 students in the district have tested positive. Half of them are spread over 19 school classes that are completely in quarantine because more than two classmates are positive in each case. The other half are isolated cases. The school locations in Miesbach, Holzkirchen, Rottach-Egern and Fischbachau are particularly affected. Daycare centers are currently not affected.

Also interesting: With a few exceptions, according to the health department, all family and household members become infected if one member tests positive.

So far, an average of two thirds of family and household members have been infected.

In unvaccinated families, the infection rate is 100 percent.

Löwis calls for personal responsibility, examines further measures

District Administrator Olaf von Löwis (CSU) is now calling on the district citizens to take responsibility for themselves: "Please get tested if you feel sick, please adhere to the quarantine rules, please inform your contact persons independently, and please, please do not put yourself and others in unnecessary danger now! "

Because of the increasing number of infections and the many cases in the hospitals in the region, Löwis is also examining additional measures in coordination with other district administrators. He prefers supra-regional solutions, says Löwis. Local individual decisions are difficult to convey; many citizens would not obey them just out of ignorance. The 14th Bavarian Infection Protection Measures Ordinance allows districts additional restrictions in the event of a "regionally high outbreak event".

The vaccination demand remains high: In the past week, a total of 513 vaccinations were carried out via the offers of the vaccination center.

125 vaccinations were given in the vaccination bus, in the happy hour of the vaccination center there were 247 vaccinations, with 99 vaccinated people using the happy hour on Friday alone.

At the Agatharied Hospital, 141 people were vaccinated against the coronavirus last week.

As of November 1st, the Agatharied hospital will no longer vaccinate.

To do this, the vaccination center in Hausham is adjusting its opening times as follows:

  • Monday: 2:00 p.m. - 8:00 p.m.

  • Tuesday: 2:00 p.m. - 4:30 p.m.

  • Wednesday: 2:00 p.m. - 8:00 p.m.

  • Thursday: 2:00 p.m. - 4:30 p.m.

  • Friday: 2:00 p.m. - 8:00 p.m.

  • Saturday: closed

  • Sunday: 2:00 p.m. - 8:00 p.m.

The district vaccination bus is still on the road in the district.

The current stop plan is available at www.landkreis-miesbach.de/impfzentrum

Questions about vaccinations against the coronavirus can be directed to the call center of the vaccination center daily from 9:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m.: 08025/704 7777.

Wednesday October 20: record incidence

The 7-day incidence in the Miesbach district reached another high on Wednesday, at 272.5, 41 higher than on Tuesday. Age groups 5 to 14 and 15 to 34 are particularly affected, where the incidence is 420 and 479, respectively. In the latter group, the value is higher in Germany only in the districts of Bad Tölz-Wolfratshausen, Traunstein, Mühldorf and Berchtesgadener Land. 101 15 to 34-year-olds were infected with the corona virus in the past seven days in the Miesbach district. The situation in the hospital remains unchanged. Furthermore, two corona patients are in the intensive care unit, both are ventilated. There are currently three vacant beds (total: 24).

There is still no special reason - for example an affected facility - for this, the district office announced.

There are no new measures like at the beginning of the year in the room - the rules have changed.

The district office on request: "Since the infection process is diffuse and the sources of infection are hardly identifiable, targeted protective measures are not possible."

She's still on green.

Schools and daycare centers remain the focus of the infection process. "Because there is a lot of testing there, many cases are discovered," said the district office. At the moment (as of Tuesday) there are cases in three school classes at three different schools with a total of eight students who tested positive. In addition, two day care centers are affected with three groups and a total of five positive cases. The only larger cluster is a wedding celebration with a total of 14 people who tested positive.

“Of course, these clusters do not account for the high incidence,” it continues. Mainly, infections would go unnoticed in the family circle, at private meetings or at work. There is no breakdown according to the cause of the infection. In some cases, transmissions could not even be tracked because there was no evidence of the infection.

One week after the free test options ended, the number of tests carried out at the test center in Miesbach has rapidly decreased. Approximately 15 PCR and 25 rapid tests are performed daily. However, the center does not conduct self-payer tests (we reported). It looks different with the offices that are connected to the district-wide portal www.reihentestung.de. According to the district office, around 600 rapid tests are carried out here every day. An evaluation of whether these are made against payment or because of a claim to be free of charge is not possible. For comparison: when the 3G rule came into being in the catering industry, the number of daily quick tests was around 1,500.

On the subject of vaccination, the update says: 630 vaccinations were carried out via offers of the vaccination center, 108 of them at the Agatharied hospital, 245 during happy hour and family day at the vaccination center and 277 on the vaccination bus. Last week, the front runner was Wednesday with a total of 130 vaccinations at the Herdergarten vaccination bus station in Holzkirchen.

Meanwhile, the district office sees no reason for increased control activity because of the rule that applies on Monday, according to which staff in restaurants and retail who have customer contact are also subject to the 3G rule.

There is no evidence that guidelines are being violated on a large scale, it is said on request.

Something similar was announced about a month ago about 3G indoors.

"With the further easing, the number of advertisements by citizens has also declined," the district office now writes on request.

If the 3G rule is violated, it is in the single-digit range per month.

In principle, it also applies that the control of the relevant personnel falls under the responsibility of the employer.

Friday October 15: High incidence in 10-19 year olds

Nationwide, the number of registered new corona infections in the age group up to 35 is particularly high. And especially with the ten to 19 year olds. In eight districts, the Robert Koch Institute reports, the 7-day incidence is over 500. The district of Miesbach does not belong to this, but an increased incidence can also be seen here. The RKI does not provide more precise figures on this, but the correspondingly colored map shows a value of 250 to 500, as is the case with around 30 of the 401 other cities and districts. The Miesbach 7-day incidence for all age groups combined on Friday: 186.

The Miesbach district office has already addressed the increased incidence of infections among school children (we reported).

The Bavarian test strategy may do its part to ensure that infections that might have gone undetected due to the absence of symptoms are detected.

According to the district office, five cases at daycare centers in the district are currently known, three facilities are affected, a total of four groups in quarantine.

In schools there are ten positive cases in four classes (two schools).

Because the number of contact persons in schools is naturally quite high, it is becoming more and more difficult to track them down.

"The contact tracing team is really at the limit," says the district office.

"It is no longer possible to call all contact persons on the same day."

Currently - as of Friday - the team consists of 14 people.

The default key is actually 20.

According to the district office, the problem is that the positions are limited by the government, so the fluctuation “should not be underestimated”.

For example, some colleagues would have moved to other areas in the house, "which is great for the district office in view of the shortage of skilled workers, but challenging for the CTT".

The tenders for the vacancies are ongoing.

A short-term increase is not possible because all positions would have to be approved by the government of Upper Bavaria.

Tuesday, October 12th: Three daycare groups and five students in quarantine - tracking is becoming increasingly difficult

With a 7-day incidence of 180, the district of Miesbach ranks among the top ten cities and districts most affected in Germany. Even if the infection rate is still diffuse, special attention is paid to schools and daycare centers, as the district office reports in its weekly update. As a result, three daycare groups are currently in quarantine at two facilities. A positive test in each case was decisive here. In addition, students from five classes at two schools are in quarantine. Two or three children were positive here. With class sizes of up to 30 children, timely follow-up is becoming increasingly difficult.

Offers from the district vaccination center were taken 712 times last week.

333 of this are accounted for by the vaccination bus, the service of which has now been extended (we reported).

A total of 2100 syringes have been placed there since the start on August 11th.

Monday, October 11th: Numbers continue to rise - Two more intensive cases

The Miesbach health department continues to record high numbers of new corona infections.

70 cases were added from Friday to Monday, making 180 new infections within the past seven days.

Which is also the 7-day incidence, since the Miesbach district has almost exactly 100,000 inhabitants.

Furthermore, there is almost no single event or institution (company, school) that is responsible for the high volume.

The district office can only name a wedding in which twelve people were infected as a cluster.

Meanwhile, the situation in the hospital has become somewhat tense again.

Two corona patients are in the intensive care unit there, both are ventilated.

So far, 87 people have died in the Miesbach district as a result of a corona infection.

Friday, October 8th: Doctors concerned about hospitalization rates - vaccination bus extension is being examined

The increased number of infections in the Miesbach district (we reported) is of increasing concern to the health department.

"Our doctors assume that the high number of infections will soon also be reflected in the hospitalization rate," the district administration said on request.

That would mean two things: On the one hand, the state government could decide on restrictions if the (Bavaria-wide) hospital traffic lights changed.

On the other hand, overloading the hospitals naturally has a direct impact on health care.

As reported on Tuesday, according to the district office, there are currently numerous infections among schoolchildren and kindergarten children, most of which are associated with no or only mild symptoms.

Overall, the infection process is still diffuse.

Meanwhile, one person is being ventilated again in the intensive care unit.

The number of vaccinations continues to rise slightly.

In the meantime 1,307 people have received a booster vaccination.

Tuesday, October 5th: Over 100 students are constantly in quarantine

27. September: Inzidenz springt wieder über 150 - Höchster Wert seit Mai

The 7-day incidence in the Miesbach district has risen sharply in the past week.

According to the RKI, it is 152 today. On Monday last week it was 110.

This corresponds to an increase of almost 50 percent in seven days and is the highest value since mid-May.

Meanwhile, the hospital traffic light is still green.

According to the intensive care register, the Agatharied Clinic currently cares for three corona sufferers in the intensive care unit.

September 20th: Lollipop pool tests are coming to elementary schools - Are some parents overcautious?

Dienstag, 21. September: Impfbus steuert Schulen an - Resonanz „sehr gut“

The authority has again increased the vaccination bus offer.

In order to reach as many citizens as possible by the end of operations in mid-October, the stop plan was supplemented with additional dates at short notice (see individual messages on our local website).

In the past week, according to the district office, 279 people had a spade on the bus.

108 citizens were vaccinated at the Agatharied hospital, 60 at the drive-in at the test center in Miesbach, 298 at happy hour and family day at the vaccination center in Hausham.
