Geretsried - At the political regulars' table, Mayor Michael Müller expressed concern that urgently needed infrastructure measures such as the B11 relocation could be delayed.

The CSU local association recently discussed the municipal effects of the federal elections at the Geiger inn in Geretsried. The federally financed relocation of federal highway 11 has been in the federal transport infrastructure plan since 2016. Accordingly, the course is to be relocated to the west from the intersection of Blumenstrasse in the direction of Schwaigwall. When the building project, which is so important for the development of the center, will be implemented, however, in view of the new appointments to the Bundestag, it is uncertain.

"The benefit-cost factor in laying the B11 is 3," explained the town hall chief. For comparison: The value of the S-Bahn extension to Geretsried, which is also planned, is around 1. "From this point of view, the B11 relocation is even more important," concluded Müller. He pointed out that the volume of traffic has increased significantly in recent years. A red-green-yellow federal government will probably set other priorities than the road expansion, so that the B11 relocation could be delayed. “That is why we must not let up in the need for infrastructure measures and we have to exert upward pressure,” demanded the mayor. For him, this also includes the construction of affordable apartments in the urban area.

"Rising rents and energy costs will lead to a further divergence in the social gap," predicted Müller.

Apartments are not only needed for local residents but also for specialist staff in companies and care facilities.

"Anyone who criticizes building measures has not heard the gong of the time," said Müller, defending the city's plans.

Like him, senior officer Dr.

Sabine Gus-Mayer received more and more apartment inquiries from people in need in her office hours.

"People over 70 years old with low pensions cannot compete in the market with young high-income earners," she noted.

Neither Gus-Mayer nor Müller can remedy this in the short time available.

"We are not landlords or brokers," said the mayor.

However, long-term setting of the course is a must: "The creation of living space is our municipal task," promised Müller.

He praised the building cooperative, which is currently building a modern building with privately financed rental apartments for 200 residents on Egerlandstrasse.

Around 1,700 citizens should find a new home on the former Lorenz site on Banater Straße.
