The World Health Organization warned today of the possibility of a severe shortage of
medical
syringes , amounting to two billion in the next year 2022,
as a result of immunization campaigns against
the Corona virus
.
"With the increase in supplies of vaccines against Corona Covid 19, the supply of syringes must be kept up," WHO official Lisa Hedman told AFP, expressing concern that there may be a shortage of syringes designated for vaccination, which in turn will lead to serious problems such as slowing the results of efforts Vaccines worldwide.
Hedman warned of delays in routine vaccinations due to the shortage of syringes, which will affect public health for years to come, calling on countries to plan and study their needs for syringes at an early date to avoid cases of monopoly and panic buying.
According to a statistic prepared by AFP, more than 7.25 billion doses of anti-Corona vaccines have been administered worldwide, which is equivalent to twice the number of routine vaccinations given annually, and thus twice the number of syringes were used.
