Next year the Pliening Heimatverein celebrates its 10th birthday.

Hopefully, because: The association still has no 1st chairman.

That could change.

Pliening - If everything goes well, the Pliening homeland club will have a new chairperson from Friday evening.

If there is no one for the post that has been vacant since the death of the then chairman Stefan Seizl in 2018, it should remain exciting about the continued existence of the association.

The second chairperson, Beate Erhard, has been acting provisionally for the past three years, but who, according to her own words, has no ambitions for the chairmanship.

Because of numerous other voluntary activities.

Pliening: meeting in the community center

On Friday, November 12th, starting at 5 p.m. in the parlor of the Pliening community center, the general assembly with the election of the new board will take place.

"We would like to see active participation so that the association can continue to exist and our work can continue for the good of the history and the homeland of our community in Pliening," says the invitation letter to the around 60 members.

Most of them have an average age of around 75, says Beate Erhard.

Office of the 1st chairman vacant

“Preserving old things and stories is important to me,” she says, explaining why she is involved in the Heimatverein, which was founded in 2012 by Stefan Seizl.

Old things such as a complete shoemaker's workshop and school furniture are currently stored in the former water house of the Pliening community.

Its future, however, is just as uncertain as what will happen to the historical pieces.

In the old school in Gelting (the building is currently being completely renovated and partly rebuilt) there is an 80 square meter room for the Heimatverein for exhibitions and events, but that is not enough as a storage space, according to Beate Erhard.

Stories and things from old times

Telling stories from the old days of Pliening - that could take place in the form of lectures.

According to Erhard, there are some suitable citizens in the community, such as the local history researcher Willi Kneißl and Erni Eder from Ottersberg, treasurer of the Heimatverein.

The general meeting on Friday takes place under the 2G rule, informs the 2nd chairwoman.

Means: only vaccinated or convalescent have access.

Proof of this must be brought along.

Due to the sometimes old age of many of the members, she has to be careful, says Erhard.

This also applies to the Stefaniritt on December 26th, which is why the decision has already been made to cancel it this year.

But there is good news in the run-up to the general meeting, Beate Erhard: “The home calendar 2022 is already in print.” A Plieninger calendar with historical pictures, 100 copies, like last year.

At that time the association was able to sell 98 copies.
