The nomination period for the general election of the Legislative Council ends this Friday (12th), and non-establishment parties have successively signed up for the election.
Former Member of the Legislative Council, Wong Shing-chi, expressed his interest in running for the Northeast New Territories constituency when he received enquiries. He was temporarily nominated by eight, including the vice chairman of the All-China Federation of Returned Overseas Chinese, Lu Wenduan.
He said that with the assistance of the other party, he has obtained enough nominations in the fifth sector and is now seeking nominations from the second sector.
Lu Wenduan confirmed the nomination of Huang Chengzhi for the election. He pointed out that the new council needs to be diversified and "does not want to be the same." He also said that the two have known each other for many years.
In the past, Huang Chengzhi advocated the middle route. He once dressed as a "superman" and called himself a "middle superman."
He said that he hoped that the public would understand that he was not a radical democrat or an establishment. Therefore, he claimed to be a moderate democrat, and his stance was against violence and shock.

Huang Chengzhi pointed out that his position is the same as when he joined the democracy movement on the first day, and that he has always supported universal suffrage and safeguarded the development of human rights.
He also pointed out that if he can enter the parliament, he will promote it at the legislative level, asking the government and the chief executive to amnesty the democrats in custody, including those involved in the primary election, and those accused in the June 4th and July 1st rallies. .
He believes that although the "Minato National Security Law" has been implemented, the citizens do not have the space and time to understand. He also pointed out that the current "National Security Law" has become a tool for criticizing people, not a law to protect the citizens. Therefore, he believes that the current democrats in prison should be amnesty. .

When asked whether he had communicated with the democrats before deciding to stand for election, Huang Chengzhi said he was wishful thinking and did not communicate with anyone beforehand.
He also pointed out that proposing an amnesty for the democrats in prison is not to please them, stressing that they can think that he is not a fellow traveler, but he believes that time can prove everything.
As for whether he can pass the qualification review committee, Huang Chengzhi said that he was not too worried, and emphasized that he has always opposed actions that undermine national unity and rights and interests.
Huang Chengzhi was once a member of the Democratic Party. In 2015, he supported the political reform plan and was expelled from the Democratic Party. In the same year, he established a new thinking with Di Zhiyuan and others, and announced his withdrawal in 2016.
