Also this year there will be no Great Freising Martinszug.
It was canceled - because of non-observable conditions.
Freising
- Actually, this year it was supposed to be a “festival of encounters and families” again, the Great Freising Martinszug on Sunday, November 14th.
On Tuesday afternoon, however, it was canceled due to the increasing number of infections.
The major event is organized by the Freising Music School in cooperation with the Stadtheimatpflege and was recently approved by the District Office - but only with reservations.
However, the dramatic development of the pandemic has now led to a rethink.
“The Martinszug could only take place under conditions that we cannot adhere to,” said music school director Odilo Zapf, referring to the uncontrollable number of participating families.
(By the way: Everything from the region is now also available in our regular Freising newsletter.)
He did not see any problems with smaller Martins parades, for example from kindergartens, said Zapf, but the Freising Martinszug, known beyond the district boundaries, posed too high a risk of infection.
