Now the poisoner is brought to trial!

She has been in the dock at the Munich district court since yesterday.

Carola F. (57) appears in the green baggy sweater in room B 175. She seems calm and collected - but only since she was in psychiatry.

“I get medication.

Before that I heard voices, ”says the art therapist.

"The voices told me: I can make you a murderer too."

And that almost happened!

According to the indictment, Carola F. bought large amounts of gamma-butyrolactone (GBL) over the Internet and filled the solvent into drinks at the Gasteig during a book show.

On November 17, Maria K. (49, name changed) was there with her two daughters (7 and 10 years old).

They drank apple spritzer from glasses.

"Mom, that tastes weird,"

said one of the girls.

Then both of them collapsed unconscious.

“The emergency doctor had to come, I was in shock,” the translator told the court.

Both daughters were admitted to the

intensive care unit

.

“They only woke up at night.

There were anxious hours. "

Four months later, Carola F. is said to have filled bottles with solvents in two Munich supermarkets.

According to the indictment, it was 45 to 65 grams of GBL - from 3.4 grams it can lead to a coma.

Prosecutor Daniel Meindl says: "The accused knew that the respective amount of GBL could be fatal if consumed accordingly and

accepted the death of the consumer approvingly

." Affected were an Edeka in Neuhausen and a Rewe in Feldmoching.

A total of three customers drank from the bottles there and later had to go to the clinic with poisoning.

Trial in Munich: This is the confused world of the poisoner

Carola F. is silent about the deeds, her lawyers Christian Gerber and Birgit Schwerdt only say: "The trial will show what our client is actually responsible for."

She has been treated in psychiatry since June 2020 and yesterday described her confused world: Voices would have ordered her to go on a trip to Asia and India, where she hiked through the mountains for two weeks - "I almost died in the wilderness." The voices were "threatening, I was afraid of them, they were so gleeful".

In 1998, Carola F. was diagnosed with schizophrenia.

The process is now up to mid-December for their permanent placement.
