Poop war in Regensburg escalates: A search warrant and a death threat

At first it was just a bizarre neighborhood fight over dog poop bags and dirty underpants.

But now one of the two fighters has received a death threat.

Regensburg - It was a bizarre neighborhood dispute in Regensburg * that made headlines in the summer.

In the Burgweinting district, green, contemplative, full of single-family houses with gardens, Hakan Kanca, wholesaler, and Bernhard Schmeilzl, lawyer, hadn't been green for a long time.

Neighbors report that the two family fathers had clashed again and again for years.

Bizarre high point: A "poop Christmas tree", a scaffolding equipped with dog poop bags and lighting, which Kanca set up on the property line at Schmeilzl.

In fact, according to reports, the bags were filled with chocolate, but Schmeilzl, as he calls it, reached out to "self-defense" and had the scaffolding removed on his own while his neighbor was abroad. The lawyer celebrated this as a success on a blog of his law firm, where Schmeilzl had already left several comments in the past about his “Turkish-born” neighbor.

But Kanca struck back.

A new scaffold followed.

This time adorned with three white fine rib underpants including a “skid mark”.

The 45-year-old then traveled again - in view of the disputes, he largely emigrated to Turkey.

Schmeilzl files criminal charges for insult and coercion using underpants.

He has a neighbor in his sights for possible aid.

On his blog called “Rechthaber” the lawyer speaks of Kanca mocking the Regensburg public prosecutor's office.

And now it's finally getting bizarre.

On a Friday, October 13, shortly before 5 p.m., two patrol cars pull up in front of the house of the Kancas. The four police officers * have a search warrant for the garden, house and an adjoining apartment with them. They are looking for the three filthy fine rib underpants, which, “unless they are given out voluntarily”, should also be confiscated if necessary. Because there is no neighbor who wants to accompany the police officers to the property as a witness, a chimney sweeper who happens to be passing by is obliged to accompany the four police officers. The three underpants are then successfully secured.

While Schmeilzl celebrates the search operation on the “right-wing” blog as a success (“It has blown up”), along with a photo of Kanca, whose Turkish origin he highlights and makes a few contemptuous remarks, his neighbor has meanwhile other problems.

When he returned to Regensburg shortly afterwards, there was a letter in his mailbox.

Content: an undisguised death threat.

Literally it says (all errors from the original): “If you continue to harass and harass your neighbors with dog excrement and underpants, etc., we will come to visit you and then there is a promise made of TURKISH !!!!!

Kanca has now filed a criminal complaint about the letter, the sender of which at least handwritten the envelope.

It remains to be seen whether the investigative authorities can achieve similarly quick successes here as they did with the seizure of three underpants.
