Thunderstorms are expected across the island overnight from Tuesday to Wednesday, with heavy rainfall.

The two Corsican departments, Haute-Corse and Corse-du-Sud, have been placed on orange vigilance for rains and floods, Météo France announced on Tuesday, November 9.

"Although serious, this episode does not seem exceptional, but it requires special monitoring", indicates the site of Météo France.

Stormy showers will indeed rise from the Tyrrhenian Sea to the south and east of Corsica.

"In the middle of the night [from Tuesday to Wednesday], these storms intensify with rainfall intensities of the order of 30 mm / h" and over three hours, "these accumulations may reach 60 to 80 mm".

Moderate to heavy rain Wednesday

After a lull at the end of the night and in the morning of Wednesday, "a new thunderstorm line will rise from the South and will bring" moderate to heavy rains "from the end of the morning on the east of Corsica until the end of 'afternoon ".

It will be necessary to take care of "some overflows" on the top of the western slopes of the relief.

Under this stormy line, "we find intensities of the order of 20 to 30 mm / h", specifies Météo France.

Thunderstorms will then lose intensity as they move north.

Haute-Corse is also on yellow vigilance for thunderstorms and floods, and Southern Corsica on yellow vigilance for thunderstorms.
